Got two calls on a Saturday from someone saying they're from HMRC, threatening me with arrest unless I transfer £400 to some account. When I tried to ask them tricky questions, they just cut the call straight away. Both times the caller had an Indian accent. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.

As soon as the recorded voice mentioned HMRC and some scam about fraud linked to me, I just hung up straight away. Feels like these con artists have almost no one left to fool at this point! What’s new is the phone number looked like it started with 0300 - isn’t that supposed to be from BT or something, like they’ve managed to trick the system switching from a usual number? Pretty sneaky if that’s the case.

Somebody rang me pretending to be from HMRC, saying I’d be arrested if I didn’t pay up straight away. I managed to get their bank details from the call, then looked up the bank info using the account number and sort code. After that, I reported the whole thing directly to the bank.

Oh my god, I’m in deep trouble here. I've been arrested and accused of money laundering! The crazy part is they discovered it because my wife accidentally put a debit card in the pockets of my trousers when she was doing the laundry. Now, I’m facing a possible 10 year sentence.
