Today I got a call from this number, and at first, there was an automated message about some tax fraud case linked to me. When a person eventually picked up and I gave them my name, they just cut the call straight away. Strange behaviour if you ask me.

I never pick up if the number looks dodgy or unfamiliar. After seeing loads of warnings about HMRC scams, I’ve blocked the number for good. Seriously, don’t ever share your banking info on a call. If you’re unsure, just ring HMRC yourself to be safe!

I got a call on my landline from someone pretending to be HMRC. They try to trick you into giving away personal info or cash. It’s obviously a scam and you have to be really careful. These fraudsters are sneaky and use names of legit organisations to fool people.

Got a call from some robot claiming to be HMRC, saying there's a tax fraud issue linked to me. Definitely a scam, so don't press any buttons if you get it!

I'd say this is probably a scammer calling. Keep your guard up and be cautious of typical fraud signs like someone sounding like they're from Asia but using a British name, offering deals out of nowhere, or claiming to represent HMRC, a UK firm, or an insurance company for accidents. Also, if they ask you to pay even a tiny amount on the phone, that's a massive red flag. Stay safe!

Since this number wasn’t saved in my contacts, my phone automatically sent the call to voicemail. But after seeing what everyone’s said here, I’m definitely blocking it from now on.

Watch out, this number rang me earlier and when I picked up, an automated message started saying something about HMRC and "tax fraud linked to you". The real HMRC never make calls like this, especially not late in the evening. They don’t have my number saved anywhere and this call came through on my second phone, which no one else knows the number of! Definitely a scam.
