I dialled 03001232040 thinking it was the police's ReportFraud line, but it felt a bit dodgy to me. Then my phone popped up saying it belonged to Stockport Neighbourhood Watch, which made me question if I’d got the right contact at all.

I got a call from someone pretending to be from a PCP car finance company in Stamford, Lincolnshire. It sounded like it was coming from an Indian call centre or something. They also sent me a text with a link and asked me to click on it. Obviously, it was dodgy and seemed like they wanted to get into my phone. Watch out, folks!

You should check out Action Fraud, honestly! If you’ve fallen for a scam, that’s the number to ring. Just pop this number into Google and have a good look at all the stuff that comes up. Also, try searching for Action Fraud itself, same thing - loads of info. And if you search for ‘999’, you’ll probably come across some daft kids messing about with scam posts. It’s worth scrolling through everything to get the full picture.

Got a dodgy call that showed up in my call history from someone who must’ve gotten hold of my number somehow. Just a heads up to everyone: double-check if your phone or number's been hijacked. You can try *#21# on your phone to see if call forwarding is switched on without your knowledge. This forwards all calls or messages to another number automatically. If scammers have done this behind your back, they might be listening in and getting hold of personal details or your 2FA codes. Stay safe!

I rang this number just the other day because I needed help about what I thought might be a fraud. Turns out it’s for national fraud issues. They asked me to sign up and wanted an email address. I tried two different emails but neither one went through. Such a pain and totally pointless. Why do they make it so complicated for something that should be straightforward? Properly annoying!

That’s actually the police’s official line for fraud reports! You can see it right at the top of the police.uk Action Fraud site. A lot of comments here seem dodgy though. If you get a call trying to con you pretending it’s from this number, definitely report it to them. The cops take messages about scammers faking this number seriously. Also, check the police 999 and 101 numbers mentioned here too. Loads of people just posting rubbish without knowing what they’re talking about!

Just Google ‘action fraud’ and check out the ‘police.uk’ website. It’s packed with info about scams and how to report them. This number is linked to ‘action fraud’ and shows up on the police site as the contact for reporting scams outside Scotland. Ringin the police fraud reporting number is a right rip off. It's way too pricey, could end up costing you nearly as much as the scam you want to report. Why aren't scams able to be reported online without any charge? You can still email screenshots of text scams and scam emails to '[email protected]' so why can't other scam cases be reported free? Still, the police 'action fraud' website does have some good and helpful info. Definitely worth checking out.

I rang Action Fraud today and ended up on the phone for like 1 hour 21 mins, the line was proper bad, kept dropping bits of the chat. Told them about fraud linked to my cctv and wifi box. Then the line just went dead so I hung up. When I looked at my call list, turns out I’d already blocked that number on my phone. How come I could still call them? Is this for real? They seem to have loads of info. My mate searched the number and it showed up on Ofcom’s site?

That's the official police number for scam reports, so best not to ring it unless absolutely necessary. Calling that line can be really pricey, maybe even cost you more than the scam itself! Instead, report scams straight on the database. It can be a bit tricky to navigate on the 'Action Fraud' website if you’re not familiar with it, but someone mentioned below how to get there. Definitely check out the 'Action Fraud' site to report scams, especially if you’ve lost money, but make sure to chat with your bank first to stop any more losses. It’s a handy resource overall.

This is the helpline for reporting scams to 'Action Fraud'. Just take a look at the banners above and the comments below for more details.
While it may feel secure to ring this number to report a fraudulent activity, be warned it might end up costing you as much as the original scam itself! Thankfully, 'Action Fraud' offers a dedicated web page where you can submit details of scam incidents directly to their system, and the best part? It’s entirely free of charge. You’ll need to scroll down quite a bit on the phishing reporting page to find where to enter your brief report amid all the extra information provided. It’s crucial that all scam calls and occurrences get logged on this database. The good news is, there’s no need to sign up!

Thats the number for Action Fraud, the police line you ring up if you want to report scams over phone or text. I dont get some of the really bad scam warnings on there though, maybe scammers are putting up false reports to put people off calling. Its usually better to just fill in the scam report on their online form. Looks like the comment below explains exactly what you should do.

This is defo the number used by those fake fraud police scammers. If you wanna report a scam, it's way better to use the 'action fraud' site instead. This number scammed me by taking £10.00 for reporting fraud, then didn’t do anything about it. Feels like a proper rip off. On my bill, it shows two calls - one for £1.80 and another for £5.00 plus VAT. It’s really worrying that they’ve labelled it as a national rate call when that’s clearly not true. Don’t waste your time trying to report it to the police, this number is definitely a con.

This number belongs to the police for lodging fraud reports. The downside is, it isn't a toll-free line, and you might find yourself waiting ages to speak to someone. I'd recommend searching for 'Action Fraud' and heading to the 'police.uk' website for more detailed guidance on how to report any scams. Also, exercise caution if you receive calls from this number. While it’s generally deemed legitimate, there are instances of scammers impersonating this number. It’s wise to approach calls from this line with a degree of wariness and rely on your intuition. Moreover, don’t be swayed by those comments claiming this number is linked to fraud; they’re likely the work of some mischievous teenagers. Make sure to read the pinned post at the top of this page, which reassures that this is indeed a valid police contact number.

Have a look at the 'caller ID' notice right near the top here. It explains everything. This is an authentic police line, absolutely NOT some dodgy scam. If anyone’s faking this number, that’s a big issue and the police need to be informed. Just search for 'action fraud' and pick the 'police.uk' link. Good security on your phone or computer will let you know if it’s a legit site. Don’t just trust what I’m saying, check it yourself.

This is definitely NOT a scam. It's actually the police hotline for reporting fraud. The scam claims here are people either messing around or scammers trying to make this number look bad by pretending to be the police. You can easily google it and confirm. Wow, legit phone numbers are being cloned big time. I reported a dodgy call pretending to be from HMRC, now they’re using ACTION FRAUD’s number and even copying emails. Either someone on the inside is leaking info or these scammers are hacking real sites to clone genuine numbers. Authorities seriously need to step up and figure out who’s behind this! And phone companies, what on earth are you doing to stop it? It’s a total nightmare! You lot need to block these calls right at the source and work with the cops to catch these nasty b****ds!

The real Action Fraud police number is used to report any fraud. The problem is, scammers have caught on and they often fake this number to try and trick people. If you need to report a scam, it’s safer to use their official website. There’s info about this there. Saw a post dated 14/05 from GLD (Government Legal Department) mentioning scammers are also faking other government department numbers. Just shows you gotta be careful out there!

This is the official police contact for reporting scam calls and texts. It really shows how bold these crooks are. Any scam attempt, even ones using this very number, ought to be reported. Just google this number and you’ll find the Action Fraud section on police.uk. Click on that. Then hit the ‘report’ button and scroll past the scam emails info to begin your report. It’s best not to phone this number directly as you’ll likely face long waiting times. The police are very keen on getting reports about scammers who spoof their own reporting number!

Just a heads up, GLD wants folks to know there’s been some dodgy calls coming from their General Enquiries lines (020 7210 3000 and 0207 210 8500). These calls sometimes say you’ve dodged paying tax. He said someone tried to take £60 from my account and started asking me loads of questions about it. He gave me a number and a reference to ring him back but I didn’t bother. I just blocked the number instead.

Somebody rang me claiming to be from Santander, saying there was unusual activity on my bank account. Trouble is, I already shut that account down because of fraud. These folks really have no shame.

Got a call from this number not long ago. They claimed to be from TSB’s Fraud team, telling me there was some dodgy activity on my account. They even knew my proper address, but the card number they mentioned had actually been cancelled ages ago, about a month back, cos of fraud anyway.

This number is supposedly the police hotline for reporting scam calls and similar stuff. Really shows how cheeky these scammers are. Check out posts from 20/11/19 and 31/01/20 for advice on what to do if someone tries to scam you through this number (or any other). You don’t need to sign up or anything to report these phishing attempts, and it takes no longer than posting here. The police are definitely interested in any reports about fraudsters faking their official scam hotline.

They rang again even tho I blocked the number. Didn’t pick up cos it was dead in the middle of the night. Not gonna bother answering them at all.

Check my comment from 31/01/20 about this phone number. Every scam try linked to it should be reported to Action Fraud through their online 'phishing attempt' report form. Don’t call the police scam line though - that number’s the problem!

Got a robo call saying someone was trying to spend £499 from my debit card (I always use my credit card or pay in person for anything big). Then a person got on the line but refused to answer my security questions, felt really fishy so I just ended the call. Watch out for this scam!!!!!!

Today I got a call where they said there were two big payments to some cleaning firm on my account. Then they told me to pop into my bank branch, pick up a check and have my card unlocked. Seemed fishy to me.

This number rang me yesterday 3rd March 2020 but luckily I had it blocked on my phone so they couldnt reach me, which stopped them from bothering me.

Just putting out a warning: anyone getting a ring from this number is probably being scammed. This number actually belongs to the police for reporting scams and fraud. So if you get a call from it, it’s likely meant for internal use only. If you do get a call, the safest bet is to report it through the police website by filling in their online form. Just google ‘action fraud’, click on the official police.uk site, and flag it as phishing. Always better to report these dodgy calls through their official online system.

This scam is really worrying, the woman said she was from HMRC saying there was a warrant out for me for unpaid taxes, and I needed to sort it right away before they arrested me. She knew my full name and address, but when I asked her for a reference number or even my date of birth from their records, she just hung up. I've reported this to the police and the National Fraud Authority.

03001232040 rang me three times near 6pm this Tuesday 17th Dec. They just hung up straight away and then sent some worrying texts that got more unsettling each time. I shouldve listened to the usual advice and not reply, as these callers are just faking they're worried about fraud.

This number keeps ringing me, repeatedly asking if I fancy hearing a message or if I'd like to press 9 to opt-out. It's been at least five times in the last hour - absolutely ridiculous!

This HMRC scam is seriously scary! They were telling my mum she’d be arrested and she got really upset on the call!! I grabbed the phone and started cursing, and then the guy with an Asian accent began swearing back!! These scams are happening all the time! Make sure you report them so others know about it!

Got a call on my mobile from someone saying they were from HMRC, claiming there was a warrant out for unpaid taxes and to press 1 to talk to an agent. Of course, I didn’t bother. Honestly, surprised people still fall for these kinds of scams. The message was from a woman with a weird accent, sounded like it was pre-recorded. Funny enough, I just logged into my gov.uk account yesterday and everything’s paid up to date.

This number is actually legit and linked to the fraud department of the UK Police. Still, if you're hesistant to pick up since it's a number you don't recognize, it's usually better to not answer straight away. Instead, ring them back but make sure your connection is crystal clear first.

This number actually belongs to the fraud department of the UK Police. Still, if you feel uneasy about picking up since it’s from an unknown caller, the safest move is to not answer right away. Instead, ring them back later when you’re sure the line is clear and you’re comfortable.

I found myself stuck on a call for a good 20 minutes, just waiting around. I received a call from someone claiming to be from a Welsh assembly, who insisted that my phone number has been cloned. Honestly, I have my doubts and quite firmly believe this is a scam.

I had a similar experience, and they hit me with a charge! Honestly, it ought to be a complimentary call, don’t you think?

I got a call from someone saying they were with Natwest’s fraud department, claiming over £8000 had been moved from my business account. They said they’d help me recover it and asked me to log in to my Natwest account. I got suspicious and tried to hang up, but the bloke kept shouting saying he was from Natwest fraud team. I ended the call and phoned Natwest’s official fraud team myself. They said no one had called me and it was a scam. Glad I spotted it in time!

Got a message from ActionFraud saying I’m running a dodgy biz without being registered. Thing is, I registered my business ages ago, like 2 years back, and they want me to call 03001232040. I pay all my taxes and follow the rules. Anyone know what’s going on or what I should do?

I keep getting calls from 08001836403, like a couple of times every day. It’s really irritating. Not sure if I ever picked up, but when I searched the number on google, it looks like it might be a scam or something dodgy.

They want us to report scams but then they make us pay for it. If it's really a scam, they should provide a freephone number, otherwise it just feels like they're trying to scam people for cash too.

My bank told me to ring this national fraud reporting place. They kept me waiting on the line for 14 minutes, even though I kept telling them I needed to hang up or it'd cost me, (I only get one free hour on calls). In the end, it cost me £1.96. Really, BT is the only one making money here, they should make these calls free to protect us. We do our bit reporting crime, but still get ripped off. Just a heads up, it’s a legit number, but you might get charged if calling from a landline.
