This reeks of a scam, so I’m not convinced this is a genuine free number. HMRC usually sends a letter before ringing about any issues, so if you do pick up, best not to say anything. I just let these calls ring out till they give up. They’re automated calls that react to noise or someone talking. Sadly, I can’t block these numbers on my phone.

I just got a call from some automated message saying it was HMRC and there was some legal case against me and if I didn’t press 1 I’d get arrested. I didn’t even bother, just ended the call right away. Honestly, who uses pre-recorded messages for threats like that? Totally dodgy if you ask me.

Got two calls today from this number, they said they were from HMRC saying I was caught up in some tax fraud issue. First off, it’s a bank holiday, and second, HMRC doesn’t do stuff like this over the phone - they send proper letters or speak to you properly. Ended the call straight away. For anyone else getting calls from this number, I’d say just hang up and don’t bother chatting, not even for a bit of curiosity. Total scam.

Hey, I had the same kind of run-in as everyone else here. This kinda call could end up really scary and cost a fortune for folks who don’t fully get how these scams operate.
