I got a call from a woman with an Indian accent, who said she'd connect me with a senior officer. Then this 'senior officer' said he was from HMRC, which freaked me out since he even knew my full name. He kept telling me that if I didn’t settle the payment right then, the police would come to arrest me within a day. I ended the call straight away, because I’m pretty sure it was a total scam.

a woman called me sayin theres a tax fraud investigation against me from hmrc and to press a number to talk to an agent. i highly doubt if there was really a problem they'd just call me with some automated message. sounds dodgy to me.

got a robo call from hmrc saying they’ve started a fraud case on me. voice told me to hit 1 straight away or i’ll get arrested. now im just sitting here, waiting for the cops to show up.

I just got a call from these hmre scammers saying I'd been caught for tax evasion or some nonsense like that. Then they tried to scare me into sending them money to dodge arrest. Definitely hanging up and blocking these lot!

I got a call from a 0300 number saying there was some tax fraud thing against me, which is totally not true. It felt a bit fishy, so I went ahead and blocked the number straight away.

This was one of those typical hmre scams for sure. I’d seen similar calls before so I knew it was dodgy, but I decided to press 1 just to find out what would happen. Ended up speaking to a really rude, aggressive woman with an Asian accent who immediately hung up when I asked her what she wanted. Be careful folks, never ever share your bank info if someone calls you out of the blue!

Just a heads up, you might get a ring from someone pretending to be from HMRC saying there’s a problem with your tax refund or that you owe some tax. They might even leave a voicemail asking you to ring them back. Don't get tricked by this - HMRC wouldn’t get in touch like that, nor would they ask for personal details like your bank info over the phone.
