When I pressed the chap for proof of his affiliation with HMRC, he had the audacity to ring me back from a different number, 03000553568, telling me to simply google it to verify his claim. When I continued to challenge him, he ominously informed me that someone would be at my door within 15 minutes to cart me off. I asked him to state my address, and just like that, he hung up! He introduced himself as Officer George Marshall, with a noticeable Asian accent, eager to extract my banking information. Terrifying experience!
