Had a call from someone claiming I owed £3786 in tax, but weirdly they didn’t have my name or where I live. Got a voicemail saying I underpaid tax and there was a warrant for my arrest. I rang back on the number 02035751497 and asked the guy to prove he was from HMRC. Then he called me again from 03000553568 and told me to google it to see it was legit HMRC. Still not convinced, I challenged him and he suddenly warned that someone would be at my door in 15 minutes to arrest me. When I asked him to confirm my address, he just hung up. The bloke introduced himself as Officer George Marshall and had an Asian accent. He was clearly fishing for my bank details. Absolutely terrifying con. Hope no one gets caught out by this!
