I received the following email earlier today: --- Good afternoon, I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out on behalf of my colleague, James Peake, in relation to some correspondence that was sent via post on the 25th of February, 2021. James, a tax expert from our Employer Duties Department, will be conducting an assessment with the company shortly. Could you please ensure that the attached documents are forwarded to the appropriate department? I understand that, given the current circumstances, you might be working remotely. I've included the documents in this email and look forward to your prompt reply. Best wishes and thank you for your assistance. Kind regards, Pam Stevenson 0300 0552687 ---

I recently received a phone call from an individual attempting to convince me that they were affiliated with HM Revenue and Customs. I cleverly responded by claiming that I, too, was an employee of HMRC, and the moment I said that, the caller abruptly ended the conversation!

Got a call from someone saying they were Pam Stevenson from HMRC. No idea if it’s legit, but it didn’t seem verified or anything. Feels dodgy, so I’m not bothered calling back, just in case it’s a scam.
