A mate of mine got a rather peculiar call from this number, claiming she had been mistakenly overpaid for the last five years and that they wanted to set up a plan for her to pay it back. It all seemed rather fishy if you ask me. The caller only had her name and phone number, but then they asked her to confirm her date of birth, which, regrettably, she went ahead and did. Now she's really anxious about the whole situation, especially given that she's hardly scraping by as it is.

Got a call from 03000-543-756 claiming to be from HMRC. I told them I'd have a look into it and ring back. After that, I dialled 0300-200-3200, the official HMRC number I’m familiar with, and after a bit of waiting, I spoke to someone who confirmed that the original number was legit. So, I rang 03000-543-756 again and it did sound genuine.
