It was about a kid who got it from their brother at home, they’d already been isolating for 10 days with no one comin in or out. Got a really grumpy bloke on the phone sayin it was test and trace, told me the call would take 25 minutes. He sounded proper moody, kept it brief and the line kept cutting out. I’m pretty sure this number isn’t legit! The person who called seemed to have barely any proper phone skills! He asked to speak to my son and wanted to ask about his contacts. I told him he could talk to me since my son is underage, but he kept insisting it had to be my son. I’d already filled out the test and trace forms online, but the caller was asking for the same info I’d already given on the website, plus he wanted my phone number (the number we were on!). When I pointed out he was just repeating questions I’d already answered, he abruptly hung up.

At first, they sounded like a bloke with an overseas accent, but then suddenly switched to a Scottish accent, which was a bit odd. Not sure if it was the same person or not.

If you’re not comfy clicking links in texts, maybe just Google "NHS test and trace" and pick the official NHS site. That way you can double check the info and sort out whatever it is they messaged you about.

I’m with test and trace and this is the only phone number we use to call people. We won’t ever ask you for your national insurance number, just your NHS number. You won’t be able to ring us back because it’s an outbound-only line; you’ll just hear an automated voice if you try. If you’re a confirmed case (someone who’s tested positive), you’re legally obligated to share the details of anyone you might have been near, but giving fake info is against the law.

Just to clear up a bit of confusion I’ve seen here - the NHS Test and Trace will NEVER ask you for your NI number. They ask for your NHS number, which is totally different from your national insurance number. To those sharing this wrong info, I get you think you’re correct, but you’re actually mistaken. I got a call from NHS test and trace about an hour after my son’s school told me there was a positive case in his class. They didn’t ask for any personal details, just wanted to check I was his parent. They asked if he had any symptoms and then told us to get him tested asap. Even tho the number seems genuine, it’s actually getting spoofed. I’ve got nearly 20 voicemails from it, all automatid recorded messages, no real person. If this number rings you, dont trust it. If you need to contact test & trace, just hang up and call 119 using a different phone. The reason to use another phone is becaus the scammer might stay connected and play a fake dial tone when you pick up again. Never give out any personal info to unexpected callers, no matter how legit they sound. With your DOB and NI number, they can mess with your identity real bad.

Someone phoned me and I was a bit hesitant to share any details but the person was really polite and seemed genuine. I actually liked that, so maybe we shouldn’t be too harsh on these call agents.

This number kept ringing me like 6 times even tho it was on my blocklist, calling every few hours then suddenly stopped before 5pm. I only keep a block list for jerks like you SCAMMERS, so I dont have to deal with your rubbish and nonsense.

Might look like a dodgy call at first, but if you search the number on GOV.UK for NHS test & trace, it actually checks out. If ur not sure who's on the line, just say you'll hang up and ring back yourself.

Honestly, no clue; tried 1571 and it said I had a voicemail, but when I listened it was just some weird piano music - really strange.

This number has rung me up a few times already. If it’s really the NHS, then their approach is pretty poor and unprofessional. For me, it just seems like a scam. I’m pretty sure the real NHS Track and Trace usually contacts you on your mobile. So if you get a call from this on your landline, be careful and don’t share anything they ask for - they should already have your details anyway.

I've been receiving numerous calls from the same number, but the other end remains silent each time before they hang up. It's rather annoying, to be honest. I would appreciate it if these calls could be blocked immediately.

Got a call from this number, I assumed it was from the track and trace service. Someone was there but never replied when I said hello. They said just one word that sounded foreign, then they hung up on me. I checked the number and from what I can see, it’s likely a scam pretending to be the real track and trace. It’s frustrating that nothing is being done by the authorities to stop this sort of thing!

Got a call from NHS test and trace asking if I was alright and if I had what I needed while I was isolating. They checked in with me on the fourth, seventh, and tenth day. Didn’t have to hand over any details or anything.

Honestly, just put your info in or reply to them. They usually ring up just once, so it's better than them coming round your house repeatedly. They're folks from the NHS, you know - doing proper lifesaving stuff and helping out with support for people who really need it. And yeah, I get what you're saying about the whole Karen thing.

I’ve been getting loads of annoying texts from this number, all asking me to give out my personal details. Today, I got 4 calls plus some voicemails too. When I finally picked up the last call, a woman spoke really persuasively, asking me to verify information she said was from my birth certificate. She even used a nickname of mine, which I’m sure the NHS wouldn’t ever do. I didn’t give her any info, she kept pushing me, and then suddenly hung up. Honestly, it felt like such a dodgy scam attempt!

There was a woman on the line with kids making noise in the background, and the signal kept cutting out. Whether it was legit or not, I’m not keen on getting hounded every single day or sharing my personal info! If it’s the NHS calling, they already have my details and can verify stuff with me, no need for me to spill everything given all the scams going around. I got a call from someone claiming to be NHS Track and Trace, asking me to give them my personal info. But all my details are already saved on the direct.gov website where I report my LFT and PCR test results to the NHS. I really don’t get it - the NHS contacts me every day through the direct.gov system after I submit my tests, so why on earth do they need me to hand over my personal details another time? Seems a bit fishy to me.

Apparently, this number belongs to the NHS track and trace system, but loads of scammers are faking it by spoofing the caller ID. So when you get a call from it, it’s hard to tell if it’s genuine or just someone trying to con you. Something really ought to be done by the phone companies and regulators to stop this spoofing nonsense.
