Just got a call from someone asking if my windows were alright. I told him they're fine and spotless. How on earth did he find my number? Think I should ring him back and annoy him the same way?

Some bloke with an asian accent called saying my computer was full of viruses and asked me to type in a link on my pc. I told him to get lost and ended the call straight away.

Decided to mess with them a bit at first, just curious how far they'd push it. They tried getting me to let them access my computer remotely, but I mentioned I was Microsoft certified - which isn't true, but I've got enough know-how from past work to easily outsmart these lot. I asked for their contact number in case anything went wrong; they wouldn't give it outright, yet didn’t completely hide it either. Honestly, maybe the smartest move is to track down their IP and hit their phone systems and computers with a denial of service.

Had one of these muppets on the line for more than thirty minutes, acting like I was in my eighties and couldn’t quite grasp what he was asking for, they’re seriously that daft you can mess about with them. He got really annoyed when I finally said we ain’t got any internet at all.

Some bloke rang me up saying he’d been looking after my PC. I told him that’s not true at all. Then he starts saying my computer’s got viruses. I told him it hasn’t. I actually built the computer myself and know what I’m doing. He kept going on about how he can help because there’s a virus detected.

So I just ended the call.

Obviously a total scammer.

Got a call today from an Asian guy claiming to be tech support for my PC. I asked what company he was with and all he said was he was technical support for Windows. When I asked which computer since I have a few, he replied it didn’t matter. Later I asked him to ring back when my partner was in and he said he wasn't allowed to call again tonight. I told him I wasn’t interested and ended the call. I suspected it was a scam so I looked up the number and ended up on this site. Cheers to everyone for sharing!

I got a phone call at work from a guy with an Asian accent who said, "Hello, this is Simon from Windows something computer..." I wasn’t sure what he said exactly so I asked, "Sorry, what was that?" He repeated, "Computer, computer, computer." I was a bit confused and said, "Right...?" Then he asked, "Is your computer alright?" I told him, "Yeah, no issues." He said, "Okay, bye," and just ended the call. Seriously odd experience!

Got a call from some Asian guy doing that standard "your computer's got issues" scam. I asked if he felt okay about scammin folks all day long, then he just ended the call. Proper sad.

Got a call from a man with an Indian accent claiming to be from Windows support, urging me to visit a website. Sounded pretty convincing and pushed hard, especially if you're not tech savvy. I kept him on the line for about 10 minutes (figured less chance for him to bug others) before telling him I don't use Microsoft stuff. Then he got annoyed and said I was wasting his time. Really worried about anyone falling for this kinda scam.

Got a ring from 02973680545 claiming my computer was sending out problems, told me to turn it on. I asked, "How do I do that?" He goes, "Are you using a laptop or a desktop?" I said I don't own a computer, then he just cut the call. He had an Asian accent, number’s blocked now.

So this bloke rings me up saying there’s some issues with my windows. I was like, "What, the ones at the front or upstairs?" Then he goes, "No, your computer." I said hold on a sec, turned off the stove and just left him waiting while I watched Corrie. After a bit, he gave up and hung up. Classic!

Just got another ring from 02973680545, it was that horrible rude Indian bloke again - last time he called me, he shouted and called me a stupid f*** woman, proper abuse. This time, I just hung up while he was still going on with his sales pitch. It’s really upsetting as I live alone and struggle with anxiety. I've signed up with TPS, so how on earth are they still getting through??

just chiming in on the post before.. tos only applies if the firm actually follows the rules. if the call isnt from a uk company then theres no rules they need to stick to and nobody to make them follow it. rule of thumb - no legit tech company calls you offering free assistance. that kinda thing is always a scam.

Just had a call from this number and decided to look it up, ended up on this site. Kinda weird coz I downloaded one of those ‘check your internet speed’ apps on my Chrome yesterday. After using it, it said my download speed was barely anything (which def isn’t true). My advice? Don’t pick up calls from random numbers without checking first. If it’s legit, they’ll leave you a voicemail.

Just a moment ago, got a call from someone claiming to be Windows tech support. They said my PC was infected with viruses that neither Virgin nor I could fix. Then they wanted me to log into TeamViewer so they could access my computer. I ended up telling them no thanks, I can handle things on my own. Honestly, these scammy cold calls think we’re all mugs. I’m definitely more cautious than most folks, so watch out everyone!

Got a call from someone claiming there was a problem with my computer's IP address, but they had no clue who I was or any other info - obvious cold call. I told them I’m in IT and then they just dropped the call on me. They said they were from some Windows Service Centre, but I reckon if they were legit, especially being American, they wouldn’t just hang up like that. Just ended up hanging up on them straight away.

I just got a ring from a bloke with an Asian accent who said my PC was going slow whenever I used the internet. I told him I've got internet security installed, but he insisted it wasn't doing its job. I said, "Actually, it is," and then he suddenly ended the call. Has anyone actually reported this number to the police? I've heard warnings that these kinds of calls are just a trick to push you into buying some dodgy software, then they get into your computer and mess things up.

Some bloke called "Justin" said he was from my computer's IT support. Honestly, it's mad that anyone actually falls for it. He didn't even bother mentioning Microsoft or anything. If, like a few of you, I keep getting these annoying calls, I’ll just pass the phone to my wife. She's got this knack for stringing them along for at least half an hour, proper funny!

Got a call from this number claiming my computer was running slow. Told them that couldn’t be right since my PC is barely two months old. Then they couldn’t even name where I bought it or give any info about the machine or me. When I asked if this was an unsolicited call, they denied it but I was certain it was; I know this number’s been recycled and I’d never register anything with it. Then they called me a daft woman and hung up. Weird thing is, they weren’t using any dialler system, so it seems like they’re manually ringing numbers one by one. Pretty pointless and a complete waste of time.

Some geezer rang up asking for the broadband bill payer. Then he got my sister to install team viewer and somehow got into my PC, claiming he needed to update the Norton antivirus coz it was supposedly not strong enough. Got a call earlier from a bloke who sounded like he might be Indian, claiming he worked for some third-party firm called pc tech support, doing contracts for Microsoft. He said my computer had viruses causing it to run slow and that they were keeping an eye on people's PCs and reaching out if issues were detected. When I asked about the cost, he said there was no fee unless they found a problem. I wasn’t having any of it though, told him I wasn’t interested and hung up. Definitely seems dodgy to me.

I got a couple of calls on my mobile and straight away knew they were scammers from Asia. The guy said he was from Windows and claimed my computer was sending him some kind of alert. I told him to jog on and warned him not to ring me again or I'd report him to the cops and Ofcom. He hung up straight away. Seriously, don’t give these lot any of your details.

Got a call from someone claiming to be ‘windows tech support’ - total scam, but I guess they’re banking on a few folks falling for it. I had a bit of a laugh with the guy, and it finished with him telling me to douse my computer in petrol or diesel and set it alight! I told him I didn’t reckon that was a smart move, and then he just hung up.

Just got a call from this number, some asian lady saying there was an issue with my computer. I asked what was wrong and she said it was slow and infected with a virus. I told her no way, my computer’s fine and no virus here. She kept insisting I had one, so I said it’s a bit rubbish to say that when I don’t even own a computer! She was like “oh crap” and then hung up on me.

Just got a call a short while ago from (02973680545), some guy with an Asian accent wanted to talk to the main person using Windows in the house. I asked him where he got my number from and, surprise surprise, he just ended the call. Luckily we’ve stopped using Windows ages ago so I could tell it was a scam right away. It’s been ages since I had one of these calls so part of me wanted to keep him on the line a bit longer for fun. Tried ringing back on my mobile but the line just went dead immediately. Really curious how on earth he tracked down our number.

Got a call from this asian sounding guy today too. I messd with him by making him believe I was on my laptop. Then I told him I’d been with his mum last night while he was busy scamming folks on the phone. Hilarious how he suddenly got really rude for no reason --) lol

Got a call not long ago from someone claiming to be from my computer support, but I quickly ended it when he began rambling about signals. I rang HP’s actual tech support, which I’ve dealt with before, to make sure it wasn’t them - they confirmed they hadn’t called me and didn’t seem too bothered about the scam. Is there a way to block this number? And can it be reported anywhere?

Eventually, he just ended the call.

I’m pretty sure this number is faked, not real. I’ve received loads of calls from a similar person who speaks with a bit of an odd accent. Plus, I’ve been bombarded with calls from people selling boiler plans or trying to chase accidents, loads of them from spoofed numbers too. I’m registered with TPS, have my number unlisted, and have reported these calls, but it never seems to make any difference.

This number keeps ringing me and it’s always the same dodgy bloke on the line! He’s an Asian guy who claims he’s from my internet provider, trying to get me to download Team Viewer to ‘fix’ my slow connection. I’m not daft though, so I messed about with him on the phone for about 20 minutes, acting all confused and clueless. Then I told him to speak up ‘cause I couldn’t hear properly and finally told him to shove off pretty loudly. He didn’t much like that much swearing, did he? What a nightmare of a scammer!

Got a call today even though I’m on the telephone preference list. Some bloke with a thick Indian accent said his name was John... bit suspicious if you ask me. He claimed to be from my internet provider asking how the broadband was working. I asked which company, and he said BT - nope, nothing to do with them! I called him out on fibbing and he started dodging the question. By then, I was pretty fed up, told him we don’t even have any computers, said he was likely lying and had no right to call me anyway, then ended the call.

Couple days back, I had a ring from this number claiming to be from BT. I asked them straight out to name my actual phone company to prove they were legit. They dodged the question, so I told them they were just trying to scam. That seemed to rile them up, and they wrongly said I was with Virgin Media, which I’m definitely not. At that point, I called them out on their scam and then they started swearing at me, calling me a “bloody b***h”. I had a similar experience. It's definitely a scam. Legit internet companies wouldn’t bother calling you from some call centre overseas. If they really needed to warn you, they’d just send a pop-up alert straight to your computer.
