Got a call from someone saying they were from Santander, but it was totally a scam. Watch out!

Got a call on Friday around 3 in the afternoon from number 02922 771 156. When I picked up, a recorded voice, sounded like a posh British lady, started with, “This is a Fraud Alert.” She went on to say that my debit card supposedly had a transaction of £600 sent abroad. The message said something like, “If you made this payment, press 1; if you didn’t, press 2 to connect to our fraud team.” It ended with a warning that they might block the card until they heard back from me. Lovely. No doubt at all this was a scam - probably one of those tricks where they try to sweet-talk the person into handing over all their details or money.

Got a call from 02922771156 at about 2.07pm, but I ignored it. It was coming from Cardiff, but I hardly know anyone Welsh. Looks like the cheeky caller was ringing just as the day was winding down - Friday evenings always bring some weird calls!

Got calls from the same number yesterday and today, all trying the ol' bank scam routine... they're really starting to annoy me!

Got a call from 02922771156 just after 2.30 pm but didn’t pick up. I now always use 1471 to check who rang if I don’t know the number before thinking about answering. If they’re dodgy, then they can move on and find someone else to bother. Maybe scammers could try calling the police instead, their numbers should be public in the phone directory, yeah?

Phone call from some scammer.
They ring from a landline in Cardiff and start off with nonsense about "unauthorised payments", "Amazon scam alerts", or "verifying a bank payment" but never mention which bank.

Don’t even entertain them, they’re just out for your cash, same old story!
You might as well believe a fire can be put out with petrol.

If they do manage to get through, just tell them off in the bluntest way possible!

Got a voicemail saying there’s £300 about to be taken from my account and £1100 spent abroad, which I never did.
