I received a call from someone whose accent was quite distinctively foreign, claiming to be from the 'Discounts Department' at O2. They insisted that as a loyal customer, I was entitled to some sort of discount! However, being a former member of the O2 team myself, I probed him about which office he was representing. He mentioned Slough Bath Road, which immediately raised a red flag for me, as that is the main headquarters. For starters, O2 doesn’t even have a dedicated 'discounts team', and their customer service is based in other places like Preston Brook and Manchester. Curious, I then asked him what number he was calling from, and he began to provide a number that was completely different from that displayed on my phone - starting with "0118 ......" before abruptly ending the call. Quite telling, isn’t it? And just to clarify, O2 never reaches out to customers with unsolicited offers or discounts for loyalty! But I suppose you knew that already!
