Having worked at O2 before, I asked which branch they were calling from. He said Slough, Bath Road - which immediately raised flags for me since that’s O2’s main HQ, and they don’t have a ‘discounts team’ there or anywhere, really. Their retention and customer care units are based elsewhere like Manchester or Preston Brook. So I asked him what number he was calling from and he tried to give a completely different one from the caller ID on my screen - something starting with 0118... then, surprise surprise, he just hung up! Also, O2 would never call to give ‘loyalty discounts’ outright, that’s just not how they roll!
