Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from Amazon, checking if I ordered a new iPhone the night before. I said yes, but then she said she needed to verify some info to cancel the order. I was like, why would I want to cancel if I actually did order it? She sounded really surprised and said, "oh, are you sure you don’t want to cancel it?". Total SCAM!

SCAM CALL. Woman with an accent saying she’s from Vodafone using a Cardiff number 029 2264 3448. I’m not even with Vodafone so no way they can offer me any ‘upgrade’. Totally a scam call centre. The line was busy too, so lets hope no one gets caught out by it.

This morning, I received a rather suspicious call from a number claiming to be affiliated with Microsoft. The caller informed me that my computer had been hacked and impending action would be taken to block my internet access and account. They provided me with an address to supposedly verify their 'authenticity' and mentioned I’d receive a follow-up call from their 'blocking department' later in the day, as I was unable to sort it out immediately. They insisted on speaking with me while I was on my computer, but I wasn't keen on engaging further until I had a chance to verify the number.

Some bloke called claiming to be from BT about my internet. Since I've got a private fibre setup, I asked what BT had to do with it (pretty sure he wasn't really from BT anyway!). He kept going on about how the 'line' was run by BT - which just isn’t true. After a bit of back and forth, he just put the phone down. Definitely a scam, I normally just tell them to piss off and hang up straight away. But this time I decided to argue a bit and he ended up quitting the call!

Got a call from an unfamiliar number, but couldn’t make out what they were saying. I’ve blocked the number and deleted it after leaving a report here.

02922643448 called me claiming to be from Option Telecom in London. He wanted to sell me an upgrade for my call blocker. When I told him I didn’t have one, he said everyone has one. I asked where he was calling from, but he said he couldn’t disclose the address and tried to put me through to his manager. When I pressed again for details, he just hung up on me.

Got a call from some Indian scammers pretending to work for Microsoft. They try to convince you that the Class ID (CLSID) for a zipped folder is your personal ‘Computer Licence Service ID’. They always point to the last thing in the list you get when you run the ASSOC command in DOS. That’s their trick to make you think they have your exclusive computer ID. But this CLSID is identical on every Windows machine from XP onwards, so don’t let these nasty scammers fool ya.

02922643448 this bloke with an Indian accent phoned my landline saying there’d been some dodgy stuff going down on my laptop in the past 3 days, involving child porn. He claimed to be from Microsoft and wanted to lock my computer. When I refused, he started shouting and said he’d give me a licence number for my computer. I asked him for proof of who he was and he got louder again. Watch out, this is both threatening and harassment.

Some bloke with an Indian accent said he was from Amazon. Didn’t even bother asking my name, just went on about someone trying to use my Amazon account. Claimed they’d sent me a confirmation email which I supposedly didn’t reply to. I told him, “There’s no email because you’re a scammer, aren’t you, mate!” Then I just hung up. Honestly, I hope these nasty scammers get what’s coming to them someday!
