Got a call from someone saying they were with O2 and had a 40% off deal on my bill. As soon as I started probing, they got all awkward and sounded sketchy. Definitely something fishy going on, watch out!

Got a call from someone saying they were from Amazon, asking if I had bought an iPhone. There was loads of noisy background chatter like from a call centre. I told them I’d go and check my account, thanked them, and they just cut off. The number showed up as ‘Cardiff’ on my phone.

Just got a ring from 02922640238 claiming to be from Amazon about an iPhone 14 order supposedly pending. I told the bloke straight that I hadn’t bought anything like that, but he stuck to his story and said his name was Daniel Smith. I checked my account and there was nothing there, so I told him to cancel the order. Then he hit me with this line that I had to log into my account on the same phone he was calling me from to cancel it. Couldn't help but chuckle before ending the call. Total nonsense.

I just got a call from a lady chatting away in what sounded like Urdu or some language like that. Not sure if she knew she’d reached someone or if she was just having a convo with a mate at work. The call went on for about five minutes with the usual pauses, and in the background, you could hear other voices from dodgy calls, people pretending to be from Amazon trying their scams. I stayed quiet just to eavesdrop and she eventually ended the call. If you want an insight into what these scammers do, check out Scammer Payback or similar channels on YouTube. It's wild what they’re up to...

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Amazon, sounded dodgy right away. I said, "You're live on BBC," but they just didn't seem to understand or maybe didn’t care. They then asked if I’d paid £600, so I played along and said yes. They immediately cut off the call after that. Total scam, be careful!

Got a call from someone pretending to be "Amazon", saying they needed to check an iPhone order I supposedly made. I quickly told them to shove off, it was obvious a scam. Then they had the nerve to say people in the UK are dumb! Honestly, they’re the ones being daft, tryna trick older folks who might not see through their rubbish.

Not the first one getting this call today, watch out! They want you to give them your Amazon verification code so they can hack your account. The caller said there was an order for an iPhone and if I didn’t place it, they could cancel it. After I spent a bit of time trying to figure out what was going on, the woman just suddenly ended the call.

I’d advise against returning calls from unknown numbers. These days, many scam operations employ number spoofing techniques, meaning they can disguise their actual number to make it appear more enticing for you to pick up. Quite a few of these calls are from abroad, too, which could end up racking up a hefty bill for you. Best to keep your distance! :(

Got a call from this number earlier today, and the person on the other end sounded a bit dodgy. They kept pushing some kind of discount really hard. I just said I wasn’t interested in what they were offering, and as soon as I said that, they cut me off and ended the call.
