Couldn’t believe my ears! Then, lo and behold, the very next day I get another call - this time a chap from HMRC on the line, urging me to press 1 for further discussion. Greetings, I recently picked up a rather dubious call from an automated voicemail. It referenced some unnamed individual, urging them to ring back on 2922550404 and to inform whoever answered that it was HM Customs, and to ask for someone named Lisa. It’s rather telling that they only provided a 10-digit number, and I highly doubt HM Customs would reach out via phone like that - surely they’d send a letter instead. This is clearly a scam, so best to dismiss it, but definitely make sure to inform your phone provider about it!

I've had the same experience with a Lisa robot from "HMRC" ringing me up, trying to scare folks into calling back a seriously pricey number - definitely a scam! Don’t bother, just block or ignore it. Being older, I was really shook up by this call. Luckily, I missed it initially due to other things going on and as time went by, I calmed down and thought things through properly. There's no way HMRC would suddenly ring and speak in such a harsh way without warning. Since I retired years back, I don’t have to file tax returns anymore. It soon dawned on me it was a scam, so I came on here to check. It’s obvious they’re trying to scare people on purpose.
