On 2nd April 2018 I got a robo call supposedly from HMRC saying I was involved in a lawsuit and to press 1 for details. I went ahead and pressed 1 but quickly ended the call before speaking to anyone. Later, I figured out it was a scam.

I have no reason to think this is genuine at all.

I got a call saying there’s a legal action being taken against me and that they’re from HMRC, asking me to press 1 to speak to a case officer. It’s a total scam - HMRC would always contact you by letter, never phone like this. Just ignore it, and if it keeps happening, you can report these fake callers to the police. Honestly, these scammers are really serious and need to be caught and punished, not made to feel safe like the real people!

When I got back, I kept hearing a message saying "Press 1 for more details about the case." Curious, I checked the number with 1471 and it showed up. This is total rubbish. Like some folks mentioned, any real "summons" would surely arrive by post. It really worries me that people might fall for this trick, end up losing cash, and get stressed out over nothing.

On 20/02/18, this number called me claiming I'd committed fraud involving £40,000. They said they were officers, but I played along and told them there’s no jails nowadays, only prisons. Then I told them to send the police here, and suddenly they started speaking in their own language. Then today, 22/02/18, they rang again saying now it’s £20,000. I told them to hold on while I put my mate on the phone, he works in the internet fraud unit. They just hung up straight away. BE WARNED, THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM!!
