Like many others, I got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC about tax fraud and evasion. The voicemail was the exact same message, but it came from a Nottingham phone number! Definitely sounds dodgy to me.

i got a call from someone saying their name was james, twice yesterday, but never mentioned who they were looking for, so i didnt bother phoning back, luckily. then got another call from a different number about a warrant but still no name given. i rang hmrc on 0800788887 and they said it was a scam, to avoid answering or calling back. best to block both numbers 02032393212 and the other one if possible, no need to get worried about it.

Steer clear and hit that block button! They claimed there was some tax dodging going on and insisted I’d need to appear in court for it! The voicemail was rather imaginative but utterly fraudulent! This morning I got a missed call from this number and didn’t pick up. Later, I found a really frightening voicemail saying I was facing legal action over tax evasion. It was quite disturbing and I’m sure no one deserves to get such a message. The caller didn’t mention any names, not even mine. Definitely a scam, so I’ve gone ahead and reported it to Action Fraud.

Got a call from this number too, saying they were from HMRC. Being a bit suspicious, I called back and just asked what they wanted straight up. The bloke denied he’d called me or left any voicemail, twice in fact. I told him to leave a message and to quit trying to con people. HMRC never ring to threaten you with warrants like that. This guy is just a daft scammer. If anyone calls you from this number, just tell them to jog on, hang up and block the number.
