Luckily, I didn’t say much since no work had actually been done. He did know my name and the leasehold firm and was correct about the initial job request. He said sorry for calling and bothering me.

I picked up one call and the person said they were from Dee Valley Waterboard and needed me to answer some questions. I said I was busy with my kid, and he asked when would be a good time since their office is only open from 6pm to midnight. When I called Dee Valley Waterboard myself, they said they didn’t know the number at all.

Someone said they were from a Medical Assessment unit, trying to give me a free medical alert button. I told them we've already got one sorted, but they called back again a few hours later. I blocked the number, then the next morning a "Call Blocking company" rings me about our telephone number showing up on a Newcastle line. I'm really tired of BT and others not doing enough to stop these scam calls at the root, instead making people handle it themselves and buy their call blocking gadgets. This is especially worrying for older people.

On the 21st of March 2018, I received a phone call at 7:45 pm where an individual asked for me by my name. They mentioned that they were conducting a survey on flooding and informed me that it would take approximately 5 to 10 minutes of my time. There are laws against annoying pest callers, and hitting them with fines might just make them think twice before bothering people again.
