Just picked up the phone about 10 minutes ago and suddenly the call dropped. Pretty sure it's some sort of scam, so I’m gonna block the number.

There’s a racket in the background, sounds like a lot of chattering folk. These blokes have rung me before, claiming that funds will be withdrawn from my bank for an Amazon purchase and some international transfer. It's certainly not the first occurrence of this nonsense; they seem to have a habit of this sort of thing!

Indeed, I had a rather entertaining call from a chap with a rather dodgy grasp of English claiming that a sum of £300 had been withdrawn from my Amazon account and an additional £1000 for some international service. Naturally, I decided to have a bit of fun with him. To start, I provided him with a completely made-up name and date of birth, which he surprisingly accepted without a hitch. When I probed him about which bank was involved, he mumbled something about "savings." I pressed him for specifics, and wouldn’t you know it, he took a wild stab at guessing Lloyds, despite the fact that I don’t even bank with them! He then repeated his question about the supposed transfers, and I responded with a rather enthusiastic "YES!" Lo and behold, he promptly disconnected the call! This charming exchange took place at half-past nine on a Tuesday morning, just so you know.

I kept getting calls from this number almost every day around 12 or 1 pm, so I just ignored it. They ended up leaving a voicemail about some payment or account issues, but I didn't bother doing anything about it.

I just picked up a weird automated call claiming to be from our bank’s fraud team telling me two payments were made on my card. After having a look through the comments, looks like we might be one of the few who almost got scammed. The number has been blocked now. The phone number was 02920 371776, said to be based in Cardiff.

Like others, I got a call with a robotic voice saying the phone was involved in illegal stuff and BT was gonna disconnect it soon. They told me to press 1 or 2. I just ignored it ‘cause it seemed really dodgy to me.

Got a call on my home phone around 10.50 this morning. Didn’t answer since I didn’t know the number and it just went to voicemail, but they didn’t leave anything. My number isn’t public, it’s ex-directory and I’m on the TPS, only my family and close mates have it. After looking it up here, I’m convinced it was one of those dodgy calls linked to the well-known Amazon scam.

Got a call from what sounded like an Aussie-accented automated message, saying there’d been two tiny charges on my Visa. Turns out it’s a classic authorised push payment scam. They act like they’re from Visa, verify the transactions, then try to get your details - name, date of birth, bank sort code. After that, they hand you another number, supposedly your bank, but really another scammer. This second lot claim your account’s at risk and urge you to transfer your funds to a safe account they “manage.” At the end of it, they clean you out completely. Total rip-off!

On 5th March 2024 at 11:55, I received a rather dodgy automated call purporting to be from 'bank security'. They mentioned two transactions that I hadn't authorised - one from Amazon for over £300 and another for a thousand quid from some international service I’ve never even heard of! I ended the call mid-way because it all felt rather suspect. It’s clearly a scam; banks don’t operate this way, and they would certainly identify themselves properly if they were reaching out!

This number wasn't saved under any of my contacts, and it ended the call just before I could get to the phone, which was in a different room. Feels like my number’s been added to some freshly sold list, and I reckon it’s just another scam call.

Answered the phone but immediately hung up. Tried calling the number back and it just went straight to voicemail. Left a message telling them to find a real job. (Our number’s ex-directory)
