I got a call claiming to be from HSBC, saying they needed some security information from me. I wondered how I could confirm that this was really from HSBC and not a scam. They mentioned they’d provide me with a number to call back, but to be honest, it left me feeling rather suspicious! What a palaver!

I find it rather baffling that it would be HSBC, considering I hold an account with them. It seems a tad foolish on their part, especially with the plethora of scams floating about these days.

Received a message on my mobile indicating that this number had attempted to call. Tried to ring back, but ended up with silence on the line. Turns out it's HSBC, as they keep pestering us at home. We've set them straight about our feelings on this matter. Honestly, they're the sole bank that resorts to phone calls expecting us to divulge personal details without a clue about their identity. It's high time HSBC realised just how misguided their approach is!

Received a peculiar call earlier today, and I've encountered similar odd rings from various numbers. We hold a business account, and there seems to be a wave of HSBC-related scams doing the rounds. To sidestep any potential misunderstandings when conversing with an individual (which, I’ve yet to do with these numbers), just request them to send the information in writing to the address we have on record. Afterwards, you can pop into your nearest branch. We never disclose any information over the phone to banks.

We keep getting calls from this number, often several times a week, and it’s becoming rather bothersome. They sometimes ring in the early evening, which is incredibly inconvenient. Of late, they seem to call and then hang up immediately. Can anyone shed light on who’s behind this? Much appreciated!

I've just had another ring from this number; I certainly won't be calling it back. No way this is from HSBC.

Regarding previous remarks, we've found it quite tricky to receive a response whenever we attempt to return the call. It's rather frustrating that the individual attempting to reach us didn't leave behind a voicemail, don’t you think? It would have been much more helpful!

This number has called our dad's mobile while he's in France. They've tried to get in touch three times now, yet each time they've called back, it’s either engaged or there’s just silence on the line.

Received a call on our mobile last night, but the line went dead before we could pick up. It feels like this lot are making a comeback after their antics from last year. Has anyone else flagged this number?

It appears that HSBC might be conducting some sort of market research or perhaps just giving their customers a courtesy call. However, it does strike me as peculiar that they would immediately request sensitive information right after the greeting. One can’t really ascertain if it’s genuinely HSBC on the line. We reached out to HSBC ourselves, and I must say, the entire situation feels a bit unsettling!

We've got a business account with HSBC, and we've received a couple of missed calls from this number as well as 02920240102. The callers never leave a message, so we’ve decided against returning the calls.

Moreover, when someone says to ring this number (provides the HSBC contact) to prove it’s genuinely HSBC, that’s just dodgy! Really now! The majority would take that HSBC number at face value and assume it’s me, and once that person reaches out again, they’re banking on having gained their trust. The truth is, anyone can easily find HSBC’s number!

We keep managing to miss the calls, but unfortunately, we haven't been able to call back.

This number rang my mobile, but then abruptly cut off. When I tried to ring back, I was met with an engaged tone. Quite odd, really!

Right, so we've put in for an account with HSBC. I can't help but wonder if everyone else here has done the same. Isn't it a bit of an indication that it could very well be 'em on the other end of the line? If that’s the case, surely they ought to have some of your details readily available. Just toss them a quick question and see what they say!

This number keeps ringing me every single day! I've gone ahead and blocked it, but it appears they're now using a similar number to get through. It's quite annoying, to say the least!

Had a bizarre encounter with a message on my mobile. There was a cacophony of call centre chatter in the background, yet nobody actually bothered to speak up. Spent a good thirty minutes trying to figure out who on earth was behind it! What a right palaver!

We've been getting calls from this number repeatedly, usually in the evenings. Whenever we try to return the call, it's always unreachable.

Like everyone else here, my experience is quite similar. I received a brief call from 02920240101, followed by a much longer ring from 02920240102. I attempted to return the call to the second number, but it turned out to be unobtainable. By the way, we hold a business account with HSBC, if that helps any.

I received a call from this number claiming to be from HSBC. The caller asked for my postcode and date of birth. I didn’t provide this information. While it might have been genuine, I’d rather play it safe. Better to be cautious than sorry!

I received a message on my mobile the other day. It was filled with the usual din you'd expect from a call centre, but no one actually bothered to say anything of substance. I spent nearly thirty minutes trying to figure out who this person was - what a complete waste of time!
