Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent claiming my PIP application had gone through and I was owed over £4,000. I knew straight away it was dodgy, so I just ended the call.

Got a call about some PPI thing, they knew my last name and where I live but had the wrong first name altogether. I never share any of my details with them.

I got a call from someone claiming they were with Openreach, saying they needed to set up a new line at my place and give me a new router. They even used my name and knew I was a BT customer. When I told them I’d have to pay for the router, they suddenly got really annoyed.

Got a call today from someone saying they were with the council and a housing group. They asked me to send pictures of any damp patches or issues around my place but wouldn’t tell me which housing association they were representing. Felt a bit dodgy if you ask me.

Seems like one of those dodgy PPI calls to me. Might be a scam trying to get your info. Be careful with them!

I got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent who called himself John Cooper. He claimed I was owed about £4,200 in mortgage interest repayments. I told him straight away that I’m actually renting and not a homeowner, but he kept pushing. So I fed him a fake birthday and a sort code that wasn’t real. He got really frustrated after a bit and just cut me off. Watch out for these types!!!

I got a call on my landline, but because we have caller ID coming through, I didn’t pick up. The phone just showed a light flashing, so I figured it was probably one of those dodgy calls or something like that.

Got repeated calls, about six times, from a woman with an Indian accent warning me that if I didn’t respond, she’d shut down my computer. She was really insistent, made it quite tricky to block her number at first. After finally managing to block it, I went through my PC’s security settings and task manager, and luckily there was nothing suspicious to worry about. - Malcolm

Every few mornings around 7.30 am, this number 02920023424 rings me up, and it’s definitely one of those dodgy automated scams. I’ve tried shouting and cursing, but it just won’t stop! Proper annoying 😡

These random numbers? Just don’t bother picking up. It’s mostly scams. If someone actually important wants to get in touch, they’ll leave you a voicemail. So yeah, ignore any unfamiliar calls, trust me on this!

My EE phone flagged this number as risky. I guess that means it’s probably a scammer, given how these apps seem to learn from past calls.

Beware, it’s a trick where they say you’ve got a cheque from PPI that they’ll send over, but first they want you to hand over a £100 cash voucher card. Totally a scam.

So this bloke calls up and claims they’ve got my address and that they’re sending someone round to arrest me 🙄 I asked them what for and they said it was because I hadn’t been paying my taxes. I told them to come get me then, and they just ended the call.

Got loads of calls from Gamma, on both my mobile and our home phone. Total pain in the neck, and blocking their numbers is pointless since they just switch to a new one. I’m convinced they’re scammers. Last time I answered, didn’t know the number, and all I heard was some background noise from a call centre, a woman saying “I’ve got a live one,” then they hung up straight away. Complete waste of time from these dodgy scammers.

Got a dodgy call from someone with a really bad connection, sounded like they were from India. They claimed they wanted to send me £6400 for a PPI claim from 2016 and kept asking me to verify my address. Honestly, it’s way too late for PPI claims now - just a complete waste of time.

They never wanted to say where the call was coming from and just kept insisting I get my husband on the phone. They told me to hang up, something about being a “good wife” or whatever. They ended up swearing at me and when I told them I was gonna report them, they got really hostile.

The number appeared as from Edinburgh, but 1471 showed a different one. They wouldn't accept me saying no and kept ringing for almost an hour. I was expecting a really important call and couldn't hang up the phone until this kept ringing finally stopped.

I’ve had pretty much the same thing happen with this number. Usually it’s this aggressive woman with an Asian accent, but every now and then a polite guy rings instead. They call me now and then, sometimes loads in a row. They say they’re from Windows support and that hackers have taken over my computer. They try to prove it by showing me stuff from Event Viewer, claiming there were attempts to hack into my machine. The conversations always get pretty rowdy, from both me and them! She definitely gets annoyed when I swear at her (just a little tip).

This call felt pretty dodgy, looked like it came from one of those call centres. They used an English name but there was no way they were from England. Best just to block and forget about it.
