Someone called me saying they were from "The Phone House Company" offering a new iPhone upgrade, but it definitely felt dodgy. When I asked where they got my number, they claimed it was from some shared list with all UK networks like Virgin and EE. That’s rubbish though - I work in cyber security, and GDPR rules mean they can’t just share customers’ details like that. As soon as I pushed them to tell me my name, they just ended the call. Total scam.

Got a call from an unknown number and when I tried ringing back, it just wouldn’t go through. Felt a bit fishy to me!

I received a rather dubious call from "The Phone House Company," insisting that they could upgrade my phone to a shiny new iPhone. Naturally, I was curious how they acquired my number. When I inquired, the lady on the line mentioned it was sourced from a communal database that supposedly includes all UK mobile providers, even Virgin and EE. I’d advise caution regarding this claim, as GDPR clearly forbids companies from passing around personal details without explicit consent. To probe further, I asked her to verify my name, and she hastily ended the conversation. It definitely has the hallmarks of a scam!
