They said it was some sort of survey when I asked who was calling. But they didn’t seem to know much about the area around here, so I figured it was probably dodgy.

They carried out the survey very well and with professionalism. The team were quite friendly and totally got that I wasn’t keen on giving out my home address. Instead, they were fine with using my town as the starting point for routes. Like from Banbridge to Belfast, for instance. They just needed the purpose of the trip (shopping), how many of us went (just me), what transport I used (car), and roughly how long I spent there. It turned out to be pretty fascinating - usually, I get calls about environmental stuff, but this survey was different and only took about 15 to 20 minutes.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from OpalReach, speaking with a strong Asian accent. When I asked if he meant OpenReach, he seemed completely clueless. I just told him to get lost and then blacklisted the number. Fingers crossed that Ofcom's recent push for telecom firms to block these dodgy callers actually works. Got a call from a woman with a foreign accent saying she was with Openreach. Pretty obvious it was a scam.

Apparently it was Virgin Media calling. Just a heads up, watch out for them.

Called 1015 on the 25th of October, 2021. When I finally answered, no one spoke but I could hear a lot of chatter like a call centre going on. I've since blocked the number.

The call said it was from Virgin Media, but there was loads of noise in the back and the person didn’t answer properly straight away when I picked up.

Got a call from this number earlier today, but it hung up before I could even pick up. Maybe they were hoping I’d ring them back, but I wasn’t having it. Seems dodgy, probably a scam if you ask me!

This bloke said he was from Virgin and Virgin security or summat. When I asked for his name, he snapped back “you’re gonna tell me your name”. I told him if he was legit security, he’d already know it. Then he called me Laura, which definitely isn’t my name - I’m Amy. So, I told him I wasn’t buying it and he just hung up on me. Proper dodgy!

I got a call from someone claiming they were Virgin Media, saying my WiFi had been hacked. When I asked them for my account number, they just ended the call.

I got a call from a bloke claiming to be with Virgin Media. He asked if my internet was working fine. I told him it was. Then he said he suspected there was an issue since someone might be leeching off my internet. I told him if anything went wrong, I’d ring back and then ended the call. No way I’m calling him again.

I got a call from a bloke with a weird accent claiming he was from some housing complaints team. He asked me to list all the issues I supposedly have with my property. When I asked which housing association he was from, he said they handle them all for tenants. I told him I actually own my place and then cut the call. I’m curious what sort of scam they were trying to pull?
