When I picked up, they asked if I was Mrs so-and-so, and I said yes. Then, they just ended the call out of nowhere.

Got a call from someone saying they were from "my internet provider" and warning my connection would be cut off. When I asked to be connected, they said it was just a "survey". When I questioned them, they just ended the call. Total scammers.

He claimed to be from the phone company and said he could sort me a better deal. Kept pushing me to switch my provider, said he could get it for half the price. The voice sounded Asian and the number showed it was from Ireland. He wanted me to switch right away.

Got a call on my mobile from someone who oddly knew my name as soon as I picked up! They wanted to chat about my broadband package, but they definitely aren’t from my current provider. I told them straight away I’m not interested and to take my number off their list. Bet that’ll never actually happen! Probably just another scammer.

Got a call from an Asian call centre, they kept interrupting me and something about broadband. I just hung up and left the phone in another room, let him go on chatting to himself since he seemed to love his own voice that much.

Got a call from a Belfast number with an English accent. About 10 minutes after I said the last call from "Lincoln" was about an accident, they ring again, telling me to buzz off. This time they said it was regarding some enquiry I supposedly made about 3 months back about switching my broadband provider. But I had already changed it a month before that call! It’s the same old scam, one stops and another one pops up, different story but I just give the same two word reply. And don’t buy the bit about it being recorded - that’s just rubbish to make you feel safe with them.

I've done this too. I set my voicemail to say something like "If you’re calling with a dodgy sales pitch, just hang up, otherwise leave a message." Don’t stress about it being a bit long, the caller’s the one getting charged. My pals get why I’ve got it like that anyway. If a number pops up I don’t know, I just let it go to voicemail.

How can you be sure this number is a scam? These folks helped me sort out my broadband. I was with BT paying £68 just for broadband and line rental. Using this site, I ended the call and looked them up online. I called them back and when they answered, I realised it wasn’t spam. Now I pay just £25 for broadband, home phone, and TV. If it was a scam, you wouldn't be able to ring them back. I reckon some people just throw accusations around to make decent people look bad, but they don’t really know the full story.

Got a call from someone who couldn’t even say “Stephen” right, said they were from “Switchuk” trying to pitch cheaper broadband and mobile deals. I told him I wasn’t interested but he kept going on like, “It’ll only be a few minutes.” I just said, “Nah, it won’t take any time because I’m hanging up now,” and ended the call straight away.
