Got a call from a woman who said she was following up on my recent enquiry and asked if I could answer a few questions about how the call went. Felt a bit dodgy to me, like it might be a scam.

Got a call just once and then it cut off. When I tried ringing back, a voice with a thick Northern Irish accent answered and said, “No services on this line.” Seems pretty dodgy, probably a scam.

Some bloke who calls himself Darren rang me, claiming he was from Northern Ireland's Department of Finance. He told me I'd missed a compulsory survey and wanted to know when I'd get it done. So, I tried ringing back the number he gave, but it just went straight to a message saying no services available on that line. I also shot off emails to a few government departments, and they confirmed the number wasn’t real and the survey isn’t actually compulsory. I reckon it was a dodgy phishing call.

I got a phone call this morning, and when I attempted to return it, I was met with a message saying, "there are no services available for this number." My phone has a call-blocking feature, so it only rang once before cutting off. I've gone ahead and blocked the number for good measure!

The Northern Ireland Department of Finance appears to be making outgoing calls exclusively. It’s worth noting that if you try to ring this number, you’ll simply hear a recorded message saying, “No services are currently available on this line,” before the call gets abruptly cut off. Quite frustrating, really!
