someone rang me pretending to be from the national crime agency, gave me a supposed employer reference number and mentioned a crime reference linked to me. they told me my national insurance number was involved in fraud and said the bureau of investigation was looking into it. they asked if i had a criminal lawyer in london who could represent me. when they started asking for my home address and other details, i said it sounded suspicious and that i’d need to verify with the nca myself first. then they just cut the call - obviously a dodgy scam.

Some bloke rang me up, already knowing my name, and asked if the police had been in touch. I just told him to ring again some other time, and after that I never heard a peep from him.
