I got a call from a woman claiming she was from Action Fraud, saying I’d filed a report. I told her that was ages ago, and figured Action Fraud was just slow getting back to me. She asked how long ago, and I said about a month. After that, she just ended the call.

Just checked my Action Fraud account and there's nothing showing that anyone called me. Plus, the phone number that contacted me is from BELFAST. On their website, it says: "Action Fraud won't phone you unless you’ve asked for it, and they’ll never ask for your banking info. If you’re not sure if a call is legit, ring the Action Fraud team on 0300 123 2040. Be aware though, that number will cost you your usual network charges."

9th Dec 2024: I got a voicemail alert on my phone but it never actually rang and there were no missed calls listed. Didn’t sit right with me, especially since the voicemail was supposedly from Action Fraud. The caller mentioned they’d send me an email, but nothing has landed in my inbox even after a day and a half. Feels dodgy, so I’m guessing it was a scam. I’ve gotta log into my Action Fraud account now just to make sure. Heard from others that they’ve been getting the same kind of calls lately!

Cheers for the heads-up. I got a call from 02895233190, someone saying they were from ACTION FRAUD. Somehow they knew some stuff about me which was creepy. I didn’t answer any of the questions they asked though. They mentioned having my email and said they’d send me something the next day, but I have yet to receive anything. Best wishes, Thomas Briggs.

Not sure if it's a scam or what. They left a voicemail but it was so full of static that I could barely make out anything, apart from them saying they'd tried to reach me a couple of times. I rang the number back and got an automated message saying it was for Action Fraud (and I’m pretty sure they haven’t been trying to call me before). But when I selected a department, it just kept ringing for ages and then cut off.

After reporting two incidents to the police, Action Fraud got in touch to provide some tips on staying safer. It was good to hear from them and get advice on how to protect myself better going forward.

Looking through other reviews from previous years, it seems likely this is either a scam or just a pest call. If it’s really Action Fraud, why wouldn’t they bother leaving a voicemail? I’ve actually reported a case to the Police, which supposedly gets passed to Action Fraud as well. The number called twice on back-to-back days but never left a message and hasn’t called again since. I’m a bit suspicious of this number, so I’ve chosen not to return their call.

I got a call claiming to be from Action Fraud but I never called them first. When I tried dialing back, I had to wade through endless automated prompts and then they said I'd be waiting in a queue for ten minutes. Well, after hanging on for around fifteen minutes, the call just dropped. What a joke of a 'service'!

Got a call this morning before 9am which I wasn’t expecting. The moment I picked up, the line just went dead - felt like some automated thing cutting off, no background sounds at all. I'm thinking I'll just block the number. If it’s for real, they can always reach out by email. Seems like a scam to me.

Got a call showing Belfast on the screen. When I asked the caller what time it was, they went quiet, which felt a bit suspicious. Pretty sure it’s a scam and I reckon they’ll ring back from a different number soon enough. Ended up hanging up and blocked it as spam straight away.

Totally legit, I always get these scam calls and enjoy messing with them before I report. This one called just to check up on me after I filed a fraud report recently. So, no need to panic at all.

Totally legit, no worries at all. I’m used to dealing with dodgy scammers and I actually enjoy calling them out when they ring me. This call was just a follow-up after I reported some fraud recently, so it was just them checking in to make sure everything’s alright. No need to be concerned.

If it really is Action Fraud trying to get in touch with me, they should just email instead. That way, it's easier and I can reply when I have time. Calling me like this isn’t the best way to reach me.

Got a call from this number on 7th August 2024, and it popped up as coming from Belfast. I’ve no contacts in Ireland, so I just ignored it. About twenty minutes after, I rang back but it went straight to voicemail with no message. If it really is Action Fraud like a few others reckon, why don’t they send an email before calling or at least leave a message? Seems odd to me.

Got a random call about a scam I apparently almost fell for several months back. I straight away asked her to give me all the info about the scam and she knew everything, so I kept listening. They didn’t ask for any of my personal stuff though. Seemed like they were checking if I’ve got any ongoing health issues, maybe mental health? Not really sure what their game was!

I got a call but didn’t pick up coz my phone was on silent, just left a voicemail tho. I reported it to Action Fraud but nothing came of it. In the message, they asked for more bank details, which made me really suspicious, so I deleted the voicemail and blocked the number. If they really needed more info, they could’ve just sent an email, like they did when they said the case couldn’t be pushed further.

He repeated the details of my report exactly, which was quite surprising. It was meant to be a sort of welfare call. Just to update folks about 028 9523 3190 - i contacted the national police action fraud team and they confirmed it’s a legit number they use. Seems they’ve got a call centre based in belfast. when they phoned me, it was to follow up on a fraud case i’d reported early february. definitely stay alert but if they do call, don’t share any personal details - they shouldn’t be asking for that in the first place.
