Like many others, I've received a call claiming to be from Virgin Media. But let's be honest, it’s well known that VM never contacts customers by phone about potential issues. I've dealt with these sorts of calls in various ways, each time resulting in them just hanging up. However, there's a bit of fun in stringing them along. Just this morning, I tried my hand at it; when the caller asked, “That’s splendid, could you please spell your password?” I took my time to spell it out, and with great pleasure spelled out F - U - C - K - O - F - F - Y - O - U - I - D - I - O - T. I was just about to finish the third word when they hung up!

I received a call from what was clearly a bustling call centre, so noisy that I could actually make out someone in the background exclaiming they had supposedly transferred £5000 to me by mistake! I was about to disregard the call but chose to pick up just in time, and the con artist remained on the line, allowing me to overhear everything. They claimed to represent Virgin Media, requesting access to my account, while asserting that I had 'accidentally' received £5000! Another individual on the line was pestering for iTunes vouchers, PC World gift cards, and the like, insisting these were needed to refund the supposed overpayment. They didn’t seem very plausible at all; I reckon only the vulnerable elderly might get taken in by such nonsense. Regardless, I’m reporting this to the authorities without delay.

I received a call from a lady claiming to be part of a visa card fraud team linked to my bank, stating that £99 had been withdrawn from my account. She inquired if I wished to cancel the transaction. I mentioned that I was currently driving and proposed to call her back once I was stationary, but she insisted on calling me back instead. When I finally pulled over, I took a look at my bank statements, and thankfully, everything appeared normal-no transactions had been made. True to her word, she never called back.

Got a call from this number earlier, but when I picked up and said hi, no reply at all, just silence. I could hear someone chatting in the background though, so I tried again asking who was calling, and then they just hung up on me. Thought it’s worth reporting here. This website is really handy for checking these random calls. Cheers for that!

Got a ring from a woman with an Asian accent claiming to be calling from Virgin Media Internet. The voice sounded familiar because I’d already asked them to take my info off their list in the past. I told her straight up that I’d dealt with her before and called it a scam. She laughed and asked if I thought she was some kind of divine being or something! I just said I knew it was dodgy since I’m not even a Virgin Media client and then said bye.

This bloke said he was a tech from Virgin Media, but it was all a load of rubbish. He even tried to scare me by saying they'd cut my internet off if I didn't look up some IP address on Google. Told him to jog on!

Today, I got a rather peculiar call on my home phone. The chap on the other end sounded rather foreign, possibly Indian, if my ears are to be trusted. I can’t quite recall if he claimed to represent Virgin Media. Quite oddly, he wanted to know if I was online at five in the morning! Then he started probing about whether I’d shared my passwords with anyone. On top of that, he inquired about the number of lights illuminating my router and whether I had any gadgets connected. It all felt a bit off, so I decided to end the conversation right there.

Not sure who that was but the call ended right when my voicemail started. Feels like another possible scam to me.

I received a rather dodgy call recently, with a heavy Indian accent and the unmistakable din of a call centre in the background. The individual claimed to be representing Virgin Media, stating that my broadband was allegedly 'corrupted.' He went on a lengthy spiel about “the issue,” but when I pressed him for a solution, he seemed to lose his cool, wondering aloud why I wasn’t interested in the specifics of the problem. I made it clear that I couldn't care less about the problem and was solely interested in rectifying the situation. This seemed to irk him further, and he threatened to disconnect my broadband if I didn’t comply with his so-called procedure. I told him that if he went ahead with that, I'd be seeking legal advice. Just as I was about to express my suspicion that this was a scam and that I planned to reach out to Virgin directly to confirm, he abruptly cut the line. Quite the experience!

Got a call on my landline, loads of noise in the background and some lady speaking with an Asian accent claiming she was from BT Openreach, said something about maintenance. Didn’t sound right at all, so I just hung up straight away, sure it was a scam and no way was it really BT.

I've been receiving calls from individuals with Indian accents who are clearly trying to pull a fast one. They're pestering people to download any desk and honestly, it’s just comical. I can't help but chuckle at their antics!

Got a call from 02894601017, claiming to be Virgin Media about some "dangerous internet issue." Let the bloke go on for a bit before telling him I knew it was all a load of rubbish. He shot back with "If you know it’s a scam, why bother me then?" I told him his mum must be chuffed with him spending his time trying to con folks. He said he’s forced to do it ‘cos he’s skint. Honestly, gave me a proper chuckle. Ended the call with him saying "Have a nice day" before hanging up.

Got a call from 'Virgin Media' saying my internet was running slow. Told them I’m not a Virgin Media customer, but they claimed it didn’t matter since Virgin supplies internet to other providers too. They wanted me to get near the router or something, but I just ended the call then and there.

020894601017 rang me up claiming they were Virgin Media and said there was an issue with my internet. I told them everything was fine. They then asked how I was so sure, and I said because I’m working from home and using the internet right now. The person got rude, saying they weren’t a technician. At that point, I told them I didn’t believe they were actually from Virgin and hung up.
