Some guy called claiming to be a life insurance agent. He started with loads of medical questions on a long form, then tried to get my bank info to arrange direct debit payments. I wasn’t comfortable sharing that over the phone, so I said no and he just hung up.

My partner filled out some details on a site comparing life insurance for people over 50, and almost immediately the phone rang. It was a call from "Reassured" (reassured.co.uk), which looks like an insurance broker, with AIG as their provider. They asked loads of medical questions, which seemed weird to me since these over-50 policies are supposed to not require that. Turns out, they were quoting a standard life insurance plan that lasts for my wife's whole life. The offer was about £10,000 coverage for just over £15 a month, pretty decent when you consider typical over-50 plans provide around £8,500 for £25 per month. Still, the lady on the phone was really insistent and kept pressing for bank details - no way we were giving those, especially as they called us out of the blue. Eventually, my wife ended the call and we’ve since blocked their number. Oddly enough, the call came from a local Templepatrick code "02894".
