I received a voicemail recently that raised my eyebrows. A woman, speaking in a slow Irish lilt, mentioned she was ringing concerning a broadband setup by Outreach and instructed me to return her call at 02893443299. Someone’s been ringing the school I work at quite a few times this week, asking for the business manager. They’re never free to take calls like this and only deal with emails - but this bloke says he’s 'not allowed' to email. Then he tries the Headteacher, but as expected, they’re not around either. He promises to ring back the next day, but I keep explaining he needs to email or nothing’s gonna change. When I told him I’d already spoken to him the previous day and asked what this was about, he got annoyed and just hung up. Definitely best to avoid.

On three instances, I found myself abruptly cut off whilst waiting on the line. Twice, I was met with a message stating that the office was closed-this was around midday, mind you-and then it disconnected me without further ado. Yeah, it's kn network, I looked them up and they actually have a proper website to show they're legit. They do installs for BT, Sky, and a few others from what I was told. When I asked why they rang me instead of BT directly (cos I was expecting BT), they said they're contractors hired by these companies to carry out the work for them.
