When I picked up, there was a bit of a weird lag before the person on the other end, who said they were from Microsoft, came through. The number showed an area code for Ballyclare, Northern Ireland, which struck me as odd since the caller had a really thick Asian accent. I didn’t hang about and just ended the call straight away. Curious, I tried ringing the number back a few minutes later but got nothing. Seems like these scammers are spoofing local numbers to make folks more likely to pick up, instead of seeing it as an international call.
