Got a call from someone with an Indian accent on my landline claiming my security was compromised. They said I could either let them disconnect my internet for a couple of hours or try to sort it myself. Then they started asking me to press buttons on my computer, which I didn’t fall for. Told them I’d choose the disconnect and would ring BT to get a new IP instead. The moment I said that, they hung up. Total scam, don’t hand over any info to these people!

Got calls more than 12 times within just 3 days. Some were silent, others had noises like an old fax machine buzzing. On a couple of occasions, a person answered and said they were from BT Openreach. The caller began by introducing themselves and asking how I was doing. I then told them I don’t have any deal with BT and ended the call.

Got a call from someone claiming to work for BT Openreach, saying there was an issue with my internet security. They tried to convince me by giving some kind of Consumer License ID, but it turned out to be a CLSID, which is just a Windows system identifier and means nothing in this context. Definitely don’t fall for any of their demands or instructions, it’s a total scam.

This number rings us pretty much every day, sometimes they’re silent, other times they spout the usual BT spiel. On 28th July they called twice and were proper rude, swearing at my husband and telling him to f off. Today, 29 July, they called again and I just hung up straight away. My husband tried reporting it to the TPS but they sent him to a phishing report site instead - don’t reckon much will happen tbh. We’re with Virgin and they said they’re aware of the problem but just advised us to keep reporting to TPS. It’s really frustrating.

This number rang me earlier today, but luckily my BT phone blocked it using their t#### system, which makes callers say who they are before the phone rings. Wonder who’s really to blame here? BT sends its customer service calls over to centres in India to cut costs. That’s when data theft happens. Now, BT users get bombarded with scam calls from India. BT then sells us phones that can block calls and charges extra for the 1572 service. So in the end, BT just earns more cash.

Been getting calls from this number all afternoon, three times now. Answered the last one, and right when I put the phone down, I caught someone speaking. Blocked it straight away. A few days back, a nearly identical caller said they were from BT saying my internet had issues. I just told them to find a real job instead of scamming folks like this. Got a call from someone saying they were about to cut off my BT broadband. Thing is, they did the same a few weeks back, so I told them they should've done it then and that I deserved some compensation. The bloke wanted me to talk to his manager and said he’d have to check on my computer. I told him to jog on with his scam and warned if he kept calling I’d take legal action, then ended the call.
