10 yearsAbsolutely! I got curious after watching a TV commercial about managing tinnitus (that annoying ringing in the ears) - it plagues me quite a bit. The ad promised a comprehensive guide on coping with it, so I thought, why not? I sent a text with the word CURE to a five-digit number. Almost immediately, I got a response from someone named ACTION, stating they’d ring me on 028 9244 4052 and would be sending me the guide. We had a rather lengthy chat about tinnitus, and while the young chap from Ireland was courteous enough, he did seem rather keen to discuss fundraising-no real shock there! I mentioned that I’m living off a Widow's Pension, which is pitifully small; honestly, I’m resorting to 15p tins of beans just to get by! He claimed he understood, but still, he brought up the fundraising aspect a couple more times during our conversation, while I remained steadfast in my reluctance. Now, here's the twist: I've caught a nasty bug from family over the festive season, so I missed three calls from that number, mainly because I was feeling utterly dreadful. Today, I finally attempted to ring them back, only to be greeted by an Irish lady who claimed to work for a cosmetics brand! She appeared rather puzzled by my situation regarding the calls. I found it odd that another caller from a different company referenced Lisbon, while someone else had a connection to tinnitus. Feeling rather suspicious, I’m starting to think this whole thing may be dodgy spam!ACTIONIrelandLisbon10 yearsI messaged a five-digit number in response to an advertisement regarding assistance for tinnitus, expecting to receive a guide on managing the condition. To my surprise, I received a call back from the company. The gentleman on the line, while courteous, was quite insistent about soliciting donations, even after I disclosed that I rely on a widow’s pension. I made it clear that I couldn’t contribute, but he reassured me that the guide would still be sent my way. I later discovered I’d missed three calls from this number, which I’d attributed to being unwell with a nasty bug. When I eventually reached out to them, an Irish woman informed me that they were, in fact, a cosmetics firm! Reflecting on it, the chap I spoke with also had an Irish accent. She seemed quite taken aback by my astonishment. I must admit, it infuriates me to realise it was all a scam, especially as I see someone else has noted their experience with the tinnitus ploy. Those scoundrels!10 yearsI've received calls from this number on five separate occasions over the past fortnight. I've chosen not to pick up since it’s unfamiliar to me. Apparently, my phone indicates that it’s linked to a Lisbon area code. Given that I don’t have any acquaintances in Lisbon, I’ve gone ahead and blocked it.Lisbon10 yearsI've received a total of seven calls from this number and it's becoming rather bothersome. I really don’t want to be pestered any further. I’d appreciate it if you could intervene and put an end to this. Thank you!10 yearsIt appears to be a call centre dedicated to various charitable organisations.10 yearsI suspect it might be a charitable organisation aimed at supporting those with hearing impairments and tinnitus, yet whenever I pick up the phone, they disconnect the call. Quite puzzling!10 yearsI received two calls from this number. The initial one I missed, and there was no voicemail left. When they rang a second time, I picked up, but it disconnected immediately, yet I could faintly hear what seemed like a call centre buzz in the background. I've decided to block the number.10 yearsI've received two calls from this number. Any thoughts on what it might be about?Submit Your Own Report (028 9244 4052)
