Got a call from someone saying they were O2 trying to get me to upgrade my phone plan!

Got a call from someone saying they were O2, using a County Down number, but the person had an Indian accent. They said I was eligible for a 30% discount and needed to share a code they’d send to apply it. The code looked legit, like one from O2, but I heard if you give that code to the caller, they can get into your account straight away. I rang O2 myself afterwards and they told me it was definitely a scam.
