At about 3.12 in the morning on 9th April 2018, the landline went off and my husband picked up, but there was nothing on the other end. I couldn’t get back to sleep after that and had to be up by 5 am for work, not getting back till around 7 pm. Since my mum’s in a care home, getting calls at silly hours like this makes me quite anxious. I already don’t sleep well worrying about her. I tried calling the number from work to see who it was, but it didn’t come up as a valid number!

I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent, sounded Chinese, saying my computer was at risk of being hacked. She told me to switch on my PC and promised to guide me through some steps to protect it. She said she was calling from BT Mobile.
