I reckon this is Carphone Warehouse trying to ring me about upgrading my phone and plan or something. Since I bought my phone online and got my SIM straight from O2, I guess they must’ve got my details from O2, which isn’t great. They first called about a month ago, but now they keep ringing around lunch and then again about 7pm every day. I just let it go to voicemail, no way I’m picking up. What bugs me is that the number shows up as local to Northern Ireland, so I only picked up thinking it was my insurance company.

After going through the comments here I thought I'd give the number a ring back. They did the same, answering by asking if a certain person was there (my wife’s maiden name, something only found on an O2 account). I said no, that wasn’t them and that they need to take my number off their list straight away. The English bloke then joined in asking if I even knew why they were calling, I told him I did from reading other complaints about harassment linked to that number on Google. He then promised to delete my number and not to call again.

got a call from this number saying they was from carphone warehouse. they wanted to sort my phone upgrade or lower my bills. weird thing is - they didn't have any of my account info. no clue about what i was paying but still tried to sell me the newest iphone without knowing any of that stuff. the bloke called phil even greeted me by my first name, not a proper 'mr' like you’d expect. total cowboys. don’t be tricked by these lot!

Keeps ringing non-stop and it's so annoying, it shows a local number so it tricks you into thinking its genuine but it’s definitely not. Proper frustrating since I’m waiting for some important calls that I can’t miss. There really ought to be some kind of law against this! Whoever promises to stop these calls in their election campaign will get my vote for sure. What’s the use of having a phone if anyone and their dog can just abuse it like this?

Number looked familiar so I rang back. They already had my details before I said anything. Turned out it was Carphone Warehouse trying to get me to upgrade my phone. They do upgrades for O2, which is my provider. They rang me like four days straight after I logged into O2’s website, so that’s probably why.

No clue who this was - but the number showed a Belfast prefix (028 93) here in Northern Ireland, where I’m based. When I picked up, I could hear the typical noise of a hectic call centre and then the caller just cut off. These annoying calls now often come from ‘local’ numbers instead of the usual UK-wide or withheld/private ID callers. This has been the first of two calls I’ve had today; it’s really annoying, especially since I use my mobile for work and personal calls.
