Received a call on 5th September 2020 regarding my boiler insurance - the caller claimed he had a better payment option for me. To my surprise, he had my name, the specific type of boiler I owned, the insurance company I was with, when my policy was up for renewal, and even the cost of my current policy. He spoke with a particularly thick Asian Indian accent. When I asked for the name of his company, he abruptly hung up. Naturally, I reached out to my boiler service provider to verify if this was a legitimate call, but they had no knowledge of it and seemed surprisingly indifferent, which struck me as odd. I've since reported the incident to the Information Commissioner's Office and Action Fraud, and I've added the number to my Caller Protect block list.
