I received a call earlier today (31st March 2009) where someone claimed there was an issue reported with our home landline. We have a hunch that this is a scam. We certainly didn't notify anyone about any problems with our phone.

This number belongs to Orange's tech support team. We lodged a complaint regarding our broadband and landline issues, and they rang us back promptly once the problem was resolved. Honestly, if you haven't logged a complaint, it's no shocker that they might have dialled incorrectly; the folks on the other end don’t seem to be the sharpest tools in the shed!

Earlier today, we received a call on our mobile from these individuals. An Irish-accented lady, amidst some chaotic sounds reminiscent of a call centre, asked for someone who wasn’t me. We promptly clarified that they had the wrong number. The woman was quite apologetic and continued with her script. Only two hours later, they tried contacting us once again, but we chose to disregard the call that time around.

This chap might be putting on an act, sporting a thick American twang while claiming to be called Steven. I’d advise against sharing any personal details. He later mentioned he was from BT, but best to tread carefully!

A couple of weeks back, I received a call from this number but unfortunately, I wasn't able to pick up. They did leave a message, but it was rather strange. It was just some hold music, the kind you typically hear when you're waiting for someone to answer, followed by a generic tune and then some faint voices before the line went dead. Quite odd, really!
