So I was trying to get hold of my sister who lives in Antrim early in the morning, but she didn’t pick up. Then when they attempted to call the same number back later, it just wouldn’t go through.

I’m really glad I’ve got caller ID on my phone - with three handsets spread around the house, I can quickly see who’s calling no matter where I am and just decide to ignore it if it’s dodgy. I never pick up if the number isn’t saved in my contacts. If it shows up as ‘withheld’, I usually answer since a few mates block their numbers. I’ve noticed that if I answer with a simple ‘yo’ instead of ‘hello’, it seems to throw off spammers or robocalls. Legit callers usually ask “Is that you?” right away anyway.

got a call again from some guy who said he was john, working for caller preference service. sounded off and totally like it came from india. i just ended the call and then rang the proper uk caller preference service myself. they already know about these dodgy calls and said since they’re overseas it’s a bit hard to stop them completely. best thing is just to hang up straight away and dont bother dealing with them.

They didn't leave any message. I use a call blocker, but it's still a pain having to constantly check for these unwanted calls. Feels like they’ve gotten worse over the last week or so.

Got a call from someone who said he was Dave and working with the UK telephone preference service. He spoke with an Indian accent and mentioned he was from Northern Ireland. Didn’t buy it, so I ended the call straight away - definitely a scam.
