I got a call on my landline from this number, and I should say, the number is only shared with a handful of trusted people.

I received a rather unexpected phone call on my landline, which is quite peculiar considering I've only shared the number with a select few individuals. When I picked up the receiver, a chap was on the line asking who I was. I pointed out that since he called me, he ought to know who he’s conversing with. He insisted that my landline had called him earlier, but I explained that I live alone and hadn’t made any calls from my landline, as I’ve been feeling under the weather and dozing off most of the day. Despite my explanation, he kept insisting that I had made the call, which prompted me to hang up the phone. I’ve since taken a look at both my phones, in the bedroom and downstairs, only to find that no outgoing calls have been made today. I can't shake off the feeling that this might be a ruse, and I’m rather anxious about the possibility of being hit with an exorbitant phone bill.
