Somebody called me claiming to be from the "Capital Bureau". It sounded like they were pretending to be the Citizens Advice Bureau, which worried me a lot. They said I owed money, but I don’t. When I asked where they got my number from, they just said it was because I supposedly owe debts. I told them what they were doing was illegal and that they must be very dishonest to have got my details like that. They just kept denying everything.

Some bloke said he was ringing from the Credit Investigation Bureau, pulling info from the Government's Debt Solution Forum or summat. Martin’s more likely to be the name of the mouse runnin’ around my garden than this being real. They claimed there’s some debt linked to my phone number - absolute rubbish!

This week, I've received two calls from them. I managed to have a conversation during the second call. They asserted that I had been chosen to join a government initiative aimed at resolving my existing debts. Curiously, they not only had my mobile number but also my first and last names (albeit with the incorrect title) and the initial line of my home address from nearly a decade ago. When I probed further about their credibility, they abruptly terminated the call. The source of the call was in Newcastle, Northern Ireland, which I've since blocked and reported.

Got a call from the same Indian guy but different numbers each time. He asked if I was Mr Tony, and when I asked his name, he said Michael, with a really thick Indian accent. My 96-year-old Dad got calls to his landline, which is ex-directory and registered with the phone preference service, so he really shouldn't be getting any sales calls. They claimed he owed money. There was all sorts of noise in the background, clearly a sign of some telemarketing circus at play. Since it was an unsolicited call, she wisely decided to hang up.
