I just got a call from someone saying they were from hmrc and that I’m about to get arrested! It was proper worrying but I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. Sounds dodgy to me.

They called me twice, first threatening arrest, then rang again from a different number with the same nonsense. Absolute rubbish, why don’t they just find proper work?

I've gotten loads of calls from this number and also 02891897852, with people claiming to be from HMRC. It's really annoying. I ended up blocking them and their emails land straight in my junk folder. Definitely a scam.

I've had this number ring me about three or four times now. We've been signed up with the TPS for ages, and we have 'Call Guard' set up on our home phone, which usually blocks these calls. Still, this one gets through and it's some recorded message pretending to be from HMRC, saying there's an arrest warrant out for unpaid taxes. It's obviously timed to match when HMRC releases new tax codes. This scam has been floating about for years now.

Today, I received a rather dodgy automated call from this number, purporting to be from HMRC. They went on about potential jail time and some sort of tax fraud, but honestly, I could barely make it out because my instincts were screaming ‘scam’ louder than they were!

So I got a call from HMRC while I was out, said I was about to be arrested or something??? I didn’t really want to risk it so I just blocked the number straight away to avoid any trouble.

HMRC supposedly has an arrest warrant for me, and they said to press 1 to talk to an officer to avoid being caught. Honestly, they’ve threatened to arrest me so often, I’d probably be behind bars more often than I am in my own flat by now.
