Beware of scams! If you get dodgy calls, text the word CALL to 7726 straight away. Any threatening or scammy messages should also be sent on to 7726. It’s helpful to take screenshots of scam emails and texts and send them to the UK Cyber Crime Unit at '[email protected]' so they can look into it. If you’ve already shared your bank details, get in touch with your bank as soon as possible, then report to the fraud police: dial 101 in Scotland, or 0300 123 2040 elsewhere in the UK. Got a call from someone saying they were from o2, but I left o2 about 3 years ago. When I asked why they were bothering me, they didn’t have a good answer so I just hung up. Definitely felt like a scam.

This seems rather dubious, possibly a scam involving a proxy. I received a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming to be 'John' and wanting to chat about O2. I’m not entirely convinced how he obtained my number-perhaps from LinkedIn? Just thought I’d bring it to your attention.

Got a call at 10:55am on 2nd August 2023 from the number +442838039031. A bloke with an Indian accent claimed he was from EE networks. My phone showed the location as Craigavin, Northern Ireland though. I asked where he was calling from and as soon as he said London, I just hung up.

Some bloke rang me saying he was from o2 and could sort me out a 40% discount on my contract. When I said I’m not with o2 and haven’t been for about a decade, he suddenly goes all weird and says he loves me lol. This is like the ninth time I’ve had this same call in the last couple of weeks!

Got a call out of the blue, and I couldn’t really make out what the lady was saying ‘cause her accent was quite thick, maybe Indian, and it sounded like she was far away. I asked her a couple of times to explain, but nothing made sense. So in the end, I just ended the call. Feels like it might’ve been some kind of scam attempt. I’ve blocked the number now on my phone.

Looks like these scammers are running a pretty big operation. They’ve rung me three times today from different numbers, all claiming they’re from O2 - though I reckon they might sometimes say it’s a another company. Probably got hold of some dodgy info on customers, then trying out different tricks. Today’s angle was a supposed discount from O2, wanting to send a message that you're meant to open - sounds like some malware trying to grab your personal details. If you can, mess with them a bit and waste their time. They usually get annoyed and start swearing, which is kind of amusing. I shared another post earlier with one of the numbers they used: "01615245608 An Asian bloke called, saying I’d won a 30% discount for being loyal O2 customer. Thing is, I left O2 a couple of years ago, so I googled the number while he was talking and it was flagged as a scam. Then he passed me onto someone else, also Asian, who told me they’d send a message to accept (probably malware). Once I realised what was going on, I told him I’m not with O2 and called out the scam. He got flustered, started swearing, shouting I was wasting his time. I couldn’t stop laughing and that only made him more annoyed."
