Constantly getting annoyed by this number!

They ringed me a couple times but couldn’t get thru since I got one of them call blockers on my phone. I looked up the number using 1471 and had a go on my mobile, which said the number isn’t known. Total scammers!! It’s really risky for folks who are less able to protect themselves.

Got a call from some scammer, asked where they were ringing from and they said London. I told them it was a nuisance call and they hung up pretty quick. Just a heads up to everyone.

Got a call from an Asian woman on BT line, just yammering on about nuisance calls. She claimed I pay by direct debit (lol, I’m not even with BT) and said my debit card was about to run out. I played along and asked where she got that nonsense from, then suddenly she ended the call. Hilarious!

Some bloke with an Asian accent claimed to be from British Telecom and asked if I was still getting nuisance calls. I said yes, even from him, and he insisted he wasn’t one of those calls, it was proper British Telecom. I told him it sounded like a scam, and he got really annoyed. Like, how could British Telecom be a scam? I just said he clearly wasn’t them and hung up. These sorts of calls are really dodgy.

Today, I received a rather suspicious call from a woman with a thick Chinese accent, claiming to represent BT. She inquired whether I still wished to block nuisance calls. When I affirmed, she proceeded to ask if I still resided at my current address, which she seemed to know quite well. Then, she shockingly asked about the expiry date on my debit card-an astonishingly specific detail she already had to hand! At this juncture, I made it crystal clear that I had no intention of divulging any card information over the phone. She countered, insisting it was necessary to confirm my identity. Firmly, I reiterated my stance and hung up. The entire conversation felt incredibly convincing, so I truly hope others remain vigilant and don’t fall prey to such tactics.

I've taken to just letting the phone ring until it switches off on its own. Afterward, I take a look at the number that called. If it's family, I'll give them a ring back. But honestly, I'd say about nine times out of ten, it's those pesky spam calls.

This chap was clearly fishing for my debit card details. I didn’t hold back; I called him both a crook and a con artist. His response? He claimed there were a thousand operators in his call centre and that he’d have all of them give me a bell. I told him to crack on... still twiddling my thumbs over here!

A bloke with an Indian accent rang up to talk to my 84 year old mum. I answered instead and asked what he wanted but didn’t say who I was. He said he could protect my mum’s landline from nuisance calls forever, but he needed to check my card details because my card supposedly expired in 2018. I told him I didn’t have my card nearby and he insisted I go look for it. I then told him my card doesn’t expire in 2018, I didn’t have to answer anymore questions, and hung up. I reckon they’re preying on older folks who tend to trust people and think these callers are from BT.

I can’t believe what happened yesterday! A bunch of scammers rang my dear friend, a 93-year-old man who’s not well, pretending to be from BT. They tricked him into giving away his bank card info and fleeced him of £120 for what they called a BT telephone service with a lifetime call blocker. I’m absolutely livid that these crooks are still able to carry out their deceitful schemes! Thankfully, I was there to help him out, so I swiftly contacted his bank to stop the transaction and block his card. It’s left the poor chap quite shaken and now he’s stuck waiting for a new card to arrive. What on earth can be done to tackle these scam artists?

Had a hard time making out her accent. She kept saying something about a company tomorrow and that I’d stop getting rubbish calls. She knew my name, address and postcode like it was nothing. Then she claimed I pay my phone bill with a debit card and told me to grab it. I don’t even pay the bill, my work does. Ended up getting annoyed, told her off and slammed the phone down.

Got a call from a lady with an American accent who said she was checking if we’d been getting loads of nuisance calls recently. I told her they pretty much stopped. She mentioned they were blocking those calls through BT. Then she asked to confirm my info and repeated my name, address, and phone number. After that, she wanted to check that I pay my line rental by direct debit and that my Visa debit card starts with a 4. I said I didn’t have the card on me and she said she could wait while I got it. I told her I wasn’t going to share those details. She just hung up after that.

Got a call recently from some bloke called Steve, claiming it was about fraud or something. He chatted with my old dad, who had no clue what he was rambling on about, so Steve just hung up on him. Did a 1471 check and that number showed up. Half an hour later Steve rang back, this time saying he was from BT about the internet. Told him they've been ringing loads and it’s always the same - we’re NOT INTERESTED. Told him to quit calling us! Let’s see if they actually take the hint.

About an hour ago, got a call from an Indian woman who asked if I wanted to block unwanted calls. She already knew my name and address and then asked for my credit card expiry date. I questioned why she needed that and asked her which phone company she was with. She said BT, which I'm not a customer of. So, I told her she was a scammer and that I wasn’t with BT, then she just ended the call.

They rang my elderly mum pretending to be from BT about nuisance calls. They somehow got her card number and pin, then said they’d send her a new phone. If they ring you up again, just play along with the conversation. When they mention the fee of £79 plus VAT, casually say you'll grab your card. Take your time for a couple of minutes, and then provide them with a completely fabricated 16-digit card number. Personally, I like to use a Barclaycard starting with 4929, followed by 12 random digits and a faux expiry date. They'll likely inform you that the payment hasn't been approved. You can then respond that you need to fetch your debit card and ask them to hold on for a moment. They'll agree, and you can simply place the phone down on your desk. After about 10 minutes of waiting, they generally give up and hang up.

I had a rather peculiar phone call earlier today, the 26th of April 2018, from this number. The caller seemed to be well-acquainted with my name and some of my address details, yet they stumbled over my door number. Quite cheeky, really! When they inquired about which number I resided at, I pointed out that they should already have this information, given that they knew so much about me. At that point, they abruptly hung up. The voice on the other end had a distinct Indian twang to it. I typically avoid calls from unknown numbers, but for some reason, I felt off guard this time.

I played along with a woman named JENNIFER, seemed to be Indian. Asked her how she even got my number since it's a pay as you go SIM I got only last week. She just stuck to her script like a robot. I had a rather unsettling conversation with someone who had a noticeable Indian accent. Like others have mentioned, he really was quite bothersome. To make matters worse, he had my full name, home address, and even the exact expiration date of my debit card, along with perhaps a bit more personal information. When I inquired about his name and where he lived, he provided completely made-up details. Clearly, he realised I was probing a bit too much, and just like that, the call cut off. How dodgy is that?
