Received a few rather dodgy calls recently, urging me to hit a button on my phone to stop my BT broadband from being cut off. The thing is, I no longer have an account with BT, and it struck me as rather odd that they'd contact me in such a manner. So, I decided to ring up BT directly and inform them about the number. They mentioned they're already clued up on this scam. Those blighters are after your credit card information! Apparently, they use random numbers, which makes it a right pain to trace or take down. Just a friendly reminder to stay alert!

My dad has received a couple of dodgy messages claiming his internet is on the verge of disconnection. I'm convinced it’s a scam. I handle all his internet bills, and there aren’t any problems at all. Given that my partner works for BT, I'm well aware that their customer calls typically come from a standard 0800 number. It’s not the norm for customers to be informed they’re facing disconnection via phone.
