I discovered that this particular number is from Northern Ireland, specifically a Ballymoney area code. Having recently placed an order with a local butcher, I gave the number a ring. However, when I was connected, it turned out to be an automated message from a savings firm, rather than the butcher. I was given three options: one for a callback, another to speak with an agent, and a third to opt out of their list. Naturally, I pressed the third option, hoping to avoid any future calls. To my dismay, a rather American-sounding voice came on, droning about insurance offers. That was my cue to hang up. The only reason I called was because it appeared to be a local number, not one of those typical scammer ones. Talk about being a bit too trustful!

I had a chat with a gentleman who had a distinctly Indian accent. When I probed him about which company he was representing and reminded him that unsolicited calls are against the law, he suddenly cut the conversation short and hung up. Clearly, he was up to no good!
