It appears that they’re posing as BT technicians, attempting to persuade you to install an app on your device. The aim of this app is sinister as it can potentially monitor your activities and even access your banking information - absolutely alarming! If they manage to get you to download it, they can spy on your screen. I strongly advise against doing so; I personally had to visit Apple to sort out the mess it caused. Stay vigilant!

I rang the number back and a guy with an Indian accent picked up. He claimed to be from Visa Mastercard, but I don't even have an account with them. He said I needed to get in touch with my bank over an international money transfer or else £800 would be taken from me. I told him it sounded like a scam, but he refused to admit it, so we had a bit of an argument. Eventually, I called him a muppet and blocked the number for good.

Got a call with a recorded message saying our BT internet was gonna be cut off. The voice had an English accent but the way they talked was kinda strange with odd words and funny pronunciations. Even though it was a recording, it felt really rushed and hard to understand. And seriously, why do these scams always say something dumb like “This is hereby to inform you”? It sounds so fake!

It sounded proper official but I knew straight away it was dodgy, so I just ended the call. Later I dialled 1471 to check the number. Someone mentioned on here about using 1571 to block the last number that called, so I gave that a go - thanks for that tip! Didn’t fall for their scam for a second, but these calls are just a pain.

At 2.30 in the afternoon on 4th June 2019, my phone rang and I didn’t say a word like I normally don’t. A polite sounding woman came on with a recorded message claiming it was from BT about my broadband saying something about internet privacy being at risk. Answered the call but kept quiet, like I always do, seeing if they say anything first - and they stayed silent. If you use BT, ring 1572 - it won’t cost you a penny. You can block the last number that called you so they can't ring again. You gotta keep adding these numbers, but it's better than relying on the TPS because these fraudsters still manage to get through.

This number has rung me repeatedly today, about 10 times already! It’s a recorded message pushing Talk Talk, but we aren’t their customers at all! Last Saturday, they kept calling non-stop, starting from 7:30 in the morning till well into the night - must have been 40 calls! I’m really getting fed up now.
