10 yearsI've had a rather similar encounter to what John and Tom mentioned earlier. They claimed to be from BT, ringing up to sort out some issues with my computer. But honestly, no thanks!JohnTomBT10 yearsI received a call from a number that purportedly belongs to BT's headquarters in Holborn, which is certainly inside London. The area code should really start with 0207. An individual with an Asian accent informed me that my internet usage was deemed "inappropriate." Considering BT had only set it up merely two days prior, that seems highly improbable. I've experienced similar instances before when faults were logged with BT; such phone calls often come in shortly after. It raises my suspicion that some call centre staff might not be acting above board. I reckon it’s a scam. They claimed to have my BT "Security Licence ID" - they quoted "888DCA60." Quite frankly, that sounds like a "CLSID" number, which has nothing whatsoever to do with BT. To my knowledge, there's no such thing as a BT "Security Licence ID." They pressured me to complete an online form with personal information. Absolutely not! If they can't even provide my BT account number to correspond with my bills, they clearly aren't legitimate. I ensured they couldn’t access my computer at any point. Henceforth, I've decided to reject all unsolicited calls, period. I rely on caller display and vet all calls before answering. These callers are clearly fraudsters. Also, I'd advise TalkTalk customers to exercise caution, especially in light of the server breach dating back to October 2015.BTHolbornLondonTalkTalk10 yearsI just had a rather dodgy call from this number. A chap on the line said he was from BT and insisted that there was a problem with my computer. He even tried to convince me to download some software. Definitely sounds like a scam, so tread carefully!BTSubmit Your Own Report (028 0910 9138)
