12 yearsI got a call, no one said a word and then it just hung up. When I called back the number, it said it couldn’t be reached. Anyone else had this happen? What’s going on with that?12 yearsGive BT Guardian a go, it’s really good at stopping those calls. Ever since they set it up on my line, I haven’t had any calls from numbers abroad or hidden callers ringing through. When they do get through and answer the questions asked, you’re given the choice to accept or reject the call. For numbers not saved in your contacts, it always asks if you want to take the call just this once, always accept or just block it outright. And if you do accidentally accept, there’s still an option to block them afterwards. It’s been a proper helpful tool for me!BT GuardianInternational12 yearsToday, my landline rang a couple of times. Both calls started with a bit of a pause. The first caller said they were from a tech company, and the second one pretended to be from Microsoft.Microsoft12 yearsLoads of calls from this number and others claiming to be from Microsoft saying my PC has issues they can sort out. I've messaged with them a few times, but just recently I tried answering with, "Hello, Microsoft Support here, how can I assist today?"... and would you believe it, they hang up straight away! Really makes you think, doesn't it?Microsoft12 yearsJust got a call but when I answered, nothing, just silence then the line cut off. I tried checking who it was using 1471, and the telecom told me the number was 0270354698. So I called it back but then got a message saying the number wasn’t valid and to try again. How come these people can ring from numbers that don’t even show up properly?12 yearsI picked up the phone and all I got was silence or someone chuckling weirdly. This has happened like three times already today!12 yearsThis number rang my wife and she picked up, saying hello a few times cause she thought it was some sort of mistake. Just as she was about to hang up, the person on the other end suddenly yelled "shut your damn mouth!" then ended the call. Not the most pleasant way to kick off the day, that’s for sure.12 yearsIt really annoys me when they just cut off before you can even answer. I'm on the TPS list, so how come I'm still getting these annoying calls?12 yearsI just got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming she was ringing from Bradford about some issues with Microsoft on my PC. When I asked how she even knew about it, she told me to get lost, then kept saying shut up before hanging up on me.BradfordMicrosoft12 yearsI keep getting calls from these muppets but they hang up straight away. I'm picking up just so I can keep them on the line when they actually talk, not so I end up paying for it.12 yearsAt about half past eight this morning, I got a call from this number. A bloke with an Indian accent claimed there was something wrong with my Windows system. I played along for a while before telling him he was a dishonest conman and that I don’t even own a Windows PC. He kept insisting I did, but I called him out on his lies again. Eventually, he just told me to buzz off. What puzzles me the most is how on earth he knew my name in the first place.12 yearsThis number just rang me up. There was a lag and the conversation was awful. I kept trying to be helpful but after a couple of minutes the bloke started shouting insults at me, called me some nasty names, then just dropped the call. Do these muppets genuinely think we're gonna hand over control of our systems to them? I've dealt with some daft and trusting folks before, but I can't imagine anyone being this daft... can they?12 yearsI got a call from an Asian guy who was telling me there was an issue with my computer. I told him I don’t actually own one. He seemed really surprised and asked, “You don’t have a computer?” I repeated no, and then he just went quiet for a second, said "oh my god," and ended the call.12 yearsJust got a phone call a little while ago, I answered with a "Hello" but no one said anything back. I ended up hanging up. Wanted to warn everyone, these calls are usually from marketers and don’t be fooled because they’re often dishonest. Here’s the trick: an automated system rings you at random, and when you say anything, it links you to someone in India. So if you ever pick up and there’s silence, the best thing to do is just hang up straight away.India12 yearsJust like a few others here, I keep getting calls from this number but when I answer, there's no one there. After having a look at this site, I've decided not to bother picking it up anymore. Cheers for the helpful info!12 yearsHe started swearing at me when I told him I wouldn’t use my computer unless he first gave me his phone number and where he lives.12 yearsGot a call from this bloke with an Indian accent, sounded like he was really far away, there was a strange echo or delay. He claimed to be from "Windows systems" and told me my computer had some kind of error. I asked where he was calling from, and he said New York. Then I asked what time it was there, and he gave me a time that was way off - like 9 hours different from actual New York time. When I told him that wasn’t right, he tried saying my clock must be wrong! I just ended the call there.Windows SystemsNew York12 yearsGot a call about 5 mins back on the 24th of October. The person was saying my computer had loads of issues and wanted me to open my laptop. I never said anything was wrong with my computer so i just told them to **** off. Definitely not falling for this scam. I'm really glad I ended the call and then found out about this site.12 yearsSomebody rang saying they were from Windows, but they couldn’t show any proof of who they were. When I asked for some sort of verification, it soon became clear they weren’t legit. Then they tried to tell me they’d come to my house! Obviously, I didn’t give them any details and just ended the call.12 yearsThis number phoned me yet again today - third time! The guy said he was from Microsoft and that my computer had some big problem that needed fixing straight away. I couldn’t help myself and decided to play along just to see what he’d say next. He told me to press the Windows key plus ‘R’ on my keyboard, then to type EVENTVWR (if you’ve dealt with these types, you’ll know what’s coming). After that, he said to click on administrative tools and then... well, I just ended the call. Honestly, these calls are driving me mad now! I bet someone will eventually fall for this trick since it’s a bit sneakier than your usual spam. Be careful out there!Microsoft12 yearsToday I got a call from this number, some bloke with an Asian accent saying he was from Microsoft in California. He told me my computer was infected with some virus. I played along for a bit, then when he started asking what I used my PC for, I told him it wasn’t his concern and maybe he’d like to connect remotely to check out my bank details or something. That seemed to shut him up, cause he ended the call straight away.MicrosoftCalifornia12 yearsThis number keeps ringing and all I get is some robotic voice saying goodbye. Does anyone know who it is or what they want to sell? Honestly, it's getting really annoying.12 yearsThis number keeps ringing me about 8 or 9 times daily, but whenever I pick up, there's just silence on the other end. Now I've stopped picking up my phone altogether, worrying it's them again.12 yearsThis number rings me loads during the week, but whenever I pick up, there's just silence and then they end the call.Submit Your Own Report (270354698)
