When I inquired about their contact information, they provided me with the number 02621611111 before abruptly ending the call. Quite suspicious if you ask me!

I received a call regarding my bank information as well. Definitely don't trust it.

A colleague of mine received a rather alarming call from these individuals who informed her that she was in debt to the tune of £6,000 and that a warrant for her arrest was pending. They persisted in contacting her, even claiming to be representatives of the police! The whole ordeal left her utterly distressed; she fainted and had to be taken away in an ambulance. Honestly, it's unbelievable how low some people can stoop!

What a right con this is! Do yourself a favour and don’t bother picking up. I was caught off guard when my phone identified the call as the ATO, so I answered. But lo and behold, the first clue that something was amiss was the automated voice telling me I owed some funds. And then, when I followed their instructions to resolve it, I could hear the ruckus of the call centre in the background, with one of those dodgy operators demanding to know why I’d rung them in the first place! It’s becoming clear that these chancers are now sharing call centres for various scams, fishing for details from unwitting people before launching into their cons. Honestly, wouldn’t it be marvellous if someone could unleash a bit of digital chaos on their machines? Or perhaps something even more dreadful!

I had a rather suspicious phone call from this number yesterday, claiming that I had outstanding debts to the Australian Taxation Office - and it happened not once, but twice! I'm genuinely concerned that someone might fall for this nonsense and find themselves in dire straits financially. I really do hope action can be taken to prevent any unwitting soul from being swindled out of their hard-earned cash!

I just had a rather amusing phone call from this number claiming I owed money to the tax office. I assured them that I dutifully pay my taxes every year and pride myself on being a law-abiding citizen. They proceeded to threaten me with an arrest warrant! I couldn't help myself and asked if they were a judge capable of issuing such a warrant. And guess what? They simply hung up! Absolutely hilarious!

Scammers posing as the ATO certainly seem to be proliferating! If this keeps up, we’ll have no room left in the jails! I decided to check this number since I had already blocked a different one from just yesterday.

On the 19th of November, this particular number as well as 02 6215 1116 bombarded my phone with automated messages, five times in total. So, I decided to block both numbers. Fast forward to today, the 20th, and I received a call from a Private number. Curiosity got the better of me, and I picked up - only to hear the exact same automated message again.

Be wary, as this appears to be a fraudulent call. I would strongly recommend you consider blocking the number.

While your date of birth and postcode by themselves shouldn't compromise your identity, it’s definitely a lesson to take on board. Always exercise caution and refrain from sharing your personal information over the phone. Reputable businesses will usually reach out via email or send letters in the post instead.

I wouldn't bother answering that call, honestly. If you do, try throwing out some made-up details and see if they back off like they did with me - they tend to bail pretty quickly! Just a heads up, no legitimate company is going to contact you this way. Stay vigilant!

I unintentionally cut off a call while I was on another one, and later on, I decided to dial 02.6216.1111 to find out what the fuss was about. Upon ringing, I was greeted by a recorded message warning me that any calls from this number might be dodgy - apparently, it was linked to a scam. They instructed me to report it through a different number, 1800.008.540. So, I gave that number a go, and it turned out to be a proper ATO contact for reporting such shenanigans. They took my information, added me to their records, and suggested I block the original number 02.6216.1111, noting that the ATO had no official communication attempt with me at all. It’s all quite baffling, considering the scammer used that very 02.62 number but when you call back, they guide you to the ATO for reporting purposes? Quite the conundrum, if I may say so! That ATO 1800 line does appear legitimate, listed clearly on their official site.

They introduced themselves as Kevin Marsh, an 'officer' sporting badge number GS1868, and went on to share a case file number with me. Then they proceeded to mention that if I disputed the amount owed, I could face having my property seized, be arrested on the spot, or potentially have to contest the matter in court in Canberra, which they estimated would cost a whopping £22,000. They suggested that if I was willing to settle outside of court, they could connect me to their accountant. From the get-go, it reeked of a scam, and while we chatted, I promptly looked up their number and confirmed my suspicions. When I pointed out the numerous complaints associated with their number, they abruptly ended the call. What a bunch of con artists!

Rang me roughly eight times within a couple of hours. I informed them I wasn’t interested, but they completely ignored my response.
